They are all old movies and I already have access to them through netflix. This Flixter thing seems like a scam and crap as far as I can see. Netflix's main problem for streaming is that the ones that you seem to really want to stream are only available on disc and the only way to get them is if you get the home delivery package....so it ends up WAY more than 8 bucks a month!

flixter works as a portable storage where you can take digital copy movies you buy on the go so it wont waste your space, but when you do buy the movie you not only can have it saved on flixter and access from any computer you want you can also download into your computer or phone (i did with my iphone) ... that I know of the only way to get movies thru flixter is thru promotions like the notebook and stuff or if you actually buy the dvds with the ultraviolet link (digital copy)... what sucks is that this is new so only the blue ray special packs get those links .. so if you buy any reg movie you are screwed from getting the digital copy or having on flixter

I am pretty sure it is also possible to add your own personal movies to your Flixter account through ultraviolet and Walmart! While watching T.V. the other night, I saw a commercial telling me that Walmart will take your personal already bought movies, and for something like $2 each will put them into your streaming Flixter or any other streaming movie apps are out there for your mobile devices. And here's the smoking bullet, down in the corner, on the T.V. during the commercial was our good friend Ultraviolet's name and easy to recognize copyrighted logo! So I have yet to check my Walmart, but I think this may be an option for all of us who have many movies in our DVD collection, and don't want to buy these pricey and (in my view) pointless Blu-Ray discs. If anyone finds out before me, please post! Thanks. Could this finally could b the answer?

You are not alone in this world of utter frustration, Nicole. I doubt that Flixter knows what is going on, lol.

HEY ALL, THIS IS A MUST READ ARTICLE:
http://news.cnet.com/8301-31322_3-573...

Walmart professes that any Disney video can be formatted to the digital and thus suppose to be able to view on Flixter/UV. According to the article, and this is only one small part, the Disney video's CANNOT.

I think I'm thinking of dumping Flixter as well as UV. They sure didn't have their act together before coming out with this option.

Ha! I love it! Don't pee on us and call it rain! So true. I guess I'll still give wally world a try and bring in a few discs. I don't own much Disney crap anyway, but if it's a total hassle, i'm with you, Carolyn. I'll just stick with paying the $7.99 a month for Netflix and watch the streamers they have, which aren't bad, they even have shows!!! They may be a bit on the older side with 'em, but that's what free (for now) YouTube is for, right? My son sent me the first of my free ones, so i figured I'd give it a chance, but I'm perfectly happy with Netflix. I even got the first month free!.

Good luck with Netflix. I had them and was finding out that all the GOOD MOVIES you had to have sent to you via snail mail. I got tired of paying the monthly (yes, I got a free month too) fee and unsubscribed. You can watch the same flix on Crackle and not have to pay a monthly fee.

If I understood the article correctly (and I may have misinterpreted it) you have to sign up with VUDU in order to view the wally world digital rights to your already purchased home collection.

Below are my set of questions sent to Flixter/UV and their response.. whatever that is worth. All I can say at this time is that Flixter did not have it's act together prior to launching this new concept.

I sent Flixter/UV 4 questions, one of which they attempted to answer. Here were my questions:
1. How can I get the movies that I purchased from iTunes transfered to view on UltraViolet?

2. When I purchase a movie via iTunes will that automatically be reflected on UV collections??

3. It really seems to be very confusing to a lot of people (seeing many frustrated people in the community board) on how to get movies into our collection in order to watch them. No one, that I can determine, from UV or Flixter is helping us all out. There are numerous FAQs but nothing related to 'how to get a movie into your program'...that should have been the number 1 FAQ. Where is it that we can go - online - to purchase digital formatted movies and have them entered into our collection???

4. I understand that Walmart will change any previously purchased DVD/Blu-Ray to the digital form for a fee, but again, how do we get the digital formatted movie into our collection????

Here is their response:
Dear Carolyn,
Thank you for your e-mail.
When you install the Flixster Collections application on your PC or Mac, you can enhance your Flixster Collections library by adding titles of digital copies of movies and TV shows from your iTunes library. This will not affect your iTunes library at all; it simply allows Flixster Collections to catalog your iTunes content as titles that you own.

To add content from your iTunes library:
• Go to COLLECTIONS
• Click the "Add" button at the bottom of the screen.
• Then click "My Computer."
You can then select where you want to have Flixster Collections search for digital copies. Put a check mark next to "iTunes Library" to have Flixster Collections import titles from your iTunes library.
Thank you for contacting Flixster Collections Customer Support.

I followed the directions, but, there is no 'Add' button at the bottom of the screen. I replied and informed them of this and they have not responded.

The first thing I would say is “Do not use your face book account to create any other accounts “face book is great to say what’s up to and old friend but lets be honest, its interface is unintuitive and disjunctive at best. Most people that are having problems with UV and flixster used their FB account to set their accounts up. Flixster does not sell movies and or the rights to stream them. They do how ever let you view your movies that you already have rights to. You can either buy UV movies or convert the ones you already have at Wal-Mart and stream them to your device (android phone in my case) I have a VUDU enabled blue ray player and I can watch and buy movies on it. All the UV movies that I get form VUDU can also be watched on flixster. Both my VUDU and Flixster accounts are linked to the same UV account. Furthermore the movies that I take to Wal-Mart and have them converted to digital will also show up on my VUDU and flixster accounts. My wife is setup as a user on my UV account and we both can watch the same movie on two different phones at the same time (using flixster). My son can watch that movie on his commuter or blue ray also at the same time (using VUDU). I have been in computers for over 20 yrs. And have done it all. I have used different services such as Netflix and iTunes ect.. This UV is free, flixster is free, VUDU is free, no subscriptions to pay what so ever!! I have most of my DVD and blue ray movies in the cloud and can watch them anywhere as long as I have an internet connection all for free. Take some time and learn this new service and deal with the hiccups that come from any new technology and you should truly be satisfied with it. I say “should” because its free what else do you want.

I guess I told you how it works in my previous post and not what needs to be done to start adding movies, so I’ll take another crack at it. First thing you have to do is set up an ultraviolet account. Go to their web site http://www.uvvu.com . Create an account there (this is your main account to use with other services such as flixster and vudu....) now that you have a UV account you can go to flixster and setup an account there (or modify an existing account) you must link your flixster account with your UV account!!!!! while at flixster web site you log in, you will see your name in the upper right hand Conner with a arrow next to it, click the arrow and a drop box comes up, click on account, at the bottom of the page you will see ultraviolet account, you can link / unlink UV accounts there., now after doing this you still do not have any movies to watch yet, now you need to get or add movies.
when you buy movies some have on the jacket of the movie the UV logo, that means you can take this movie home open it up , pull out the UV instructions and redeem that movie( each one has a different web site to redeem it but all sites will ask for your UV account info( this is the most important part you must use your UV account info when redeeming the movie) once you have finished the redeeming of the movie you now on it forever and the movie will show up in ever app that uses the UV services (flixster , vudu ) you can take your movies that you already own to Wal-Mart and pay $2 per movie and have it put into your UV collection, you can buy movies using VUDU that comes with most Blu-ray players.(only those that are UV will show up in flixster also) if you do this you will have your movies to watch without having the disk with you.

You can purchase the movie online via a computer at flixter.com It sucks that it can't be done via the phone app. I can't get my flixter and ultraviolet account to sync either.
