I want an iTunes digital copy, NOT UltraViolet!!

  • Updated 3 years ago
I have all my digital copies on iTunes. I can upgrade a device whenever I want and have my movies/shows transferred when I upgrade. I just have to make sure my old devices are "deauthorized." I have my laptop and my iPhone.

If I upgrade my devices, eventually I won't be able to transfer along my UV digital copies because I only have 3 years to do so? and if I manage to up grade in 3 years, each time I downloand a copy of a movie/show, it takes up one of the "five" devices?

I want to be able to have all my digital copies in ONE system and that system is iTunes. If UV is a service a company wants to use, that is fine! BUT let the consumer decide what service they would want to use for digital copies. It sucks that I have to use different systems to view my digital copies.

I purchased part one of the Harry Potter Deathly Hallows and got the iTunes version and now I have to us UV to watch part 2?? Not happy all at!!

Somebody had better give me an Itunes download, or I'm taking the movie back to the store!

"Digital copy" means I own the video and can do whatever I want with it. It does not mean I have to create an account with an upstart website and only watch it through their software.

FALSE ADVERTISING!

I'm not a fan of this new format. Just give me my iTunes digital copy please. Why isn't there any links to "contact us" on Flixster? This is giving me a headache!

There of course are multiple links for "Support" on flixster. However, none of them will allow us to email the Flixtster people. we get sent to these discussion boards about people bitching. this is ridiculous.

Go to support.ultraviolet.flixster.com as i stated below....it worked for me. Have your UV redemption code ready because you'll need it for them to give you the iTunes version.

Update! I went to:

support.ultraviolet.flixster.com

I submitted a ticket under "Support Request" (Issue type: Offer Redemption). Pretty much said what I mentioned above and was able to get an iTunes code for the movie.

Hope this helps! I am a happy camper....for now! I really hope they allow iTunes copies in the future...at least let the consumer decide what type of copy they want.

Lucky! I can't even find my movie now on the app or online. I can't stand flixster, it is definitely not working at all when I try to activate my account. I seriously have tried it 10 times already.

Greetings,

I can't say how disappointed I am with the Ultra Violet system. The sheer pain I have to go through in order to place a copy of a movie to my preferred storage format is unacceptable. I have read the many posts concerning this subject and, quite frankly, I am in agreement with them.

I purchased a Blue Ray copy of Green Lantern with a digital copy. I find the "digital copy" is proprietary and I can’t use iTunes (where I have over a dozen digital movies) as a means of storage and playback.

So I contact Flixster Support (Flixster UltraViolet) and am given a ticket number (15025-125532)

Here is the message:
Dear valued customer,

To resolve your Ultraviolet Digital Copy request, we will mail you a Digital Copy disc that includes an iTunes compatible file for PCs and Macs as well as a Windows Media@ file for Windows-based PCs.

Please respond to this email with your name and physical mailing address. The expected delivery time frame is 2-3 weeks from the date we receive your mailing address.

Thank you for contacting UltraViolet Digital Copy Support.

UltraViolet Digital Copy Support Team

Ticket Information:
Ticket #: 15025-125532
Date Created: 11/30/2011 12:55 PM PDT
Product: Green Lantern (DVD)
Country: us
Redemption Code:

If you have additional UltraViolet Digital Copy questions, please check support.ultraviolet.flixster.com.
If you have general Flixster questions check here.

You’ll notice there is no Redemption Code. None was given to me.
I did receive the promised disk in the mail. I had assumed the redemption code would be with it. That was not the case.

All these hoops to jump through is not acceptable. With other movies it is a straightforward process, no pain and done in a few minutes. In this case 6 weeks later I still do not have the movie in iTunes.

It would be much better if they give the customer the option of having iTunes format or not.

Just hacks me off that I am one of the people doing it right (Paying extra for digital copy) I have over 1000 DVD's/Blu Rays in my collection, so it's not like I haven't given these people some money. Guess I will just go back to buying the DVD and using Handbrake, or not buying any movie with ultraviolet unless it also has Itunes (Cowboys and Aliens). This has got to be impacting their sales. I wonder if they will ever get a clue.

Also kind of makes me curious about what criteria they are using to determine who does or does not get an itunes code. What I have seen on various forums seems to be the same story. Some people submit a single ticket and get help almost immediately, while others submit multiple tickets that appear to be going into a black hole and get no response whatsoever

When creating an UltraViolet account it keeps giving me a "user password invalid" error even though my passwords (I've tried multiple) are within their guidelines for UV.

This has left a sour taste in my mouth for UV and it's pushing me to just rip the DVD for ease of use.

Ultraviolet is a joke!!! I hope for it's demise. It's a horrible idea, and Flixter should be smarter and partner up with a legitimate company that knows what is is doing. The movie studios should be ashamed of themselves for backing this. It's a disgrace. I can not get access to any of my UV movies through flixter. I have to go to the Ultraviolet site and stream from that site. I can't link them up with out errors, and content going missing, or not working. I had to delete Flixter from my facebook more than once and try to add it back and see if that fixed anything. I still couldn't get one of the movies in my Flixter locker to play. After a while I gave up on the whole thing, but decided I'd try it later, since I have flixter on my devices. I use it for rotten tomatoes, and other stuff, but when it comes to movie streaming, they suck, because Flixter and Ultraviolet do not work well together, this whole UV experience is just frustrating, and they movie companies should just give us digital copies on disc, that we can put on our computer and put on our devices. Otherwise I feel like I'm just being ripped off because I am told I am getting a digital copy, but it's a total pain in the ass to try to access it. I guess they don't care how user friendly the service is. I think everyone should boycott an not buy movies with Ultraviolet labels on them, and just buy digital copies online that they can back up on a computer, and stream to a TV or play on any device they chose. May Ultraviolet fall, and all the dumb asses that came up with this idiotic idea.

I've also emailed a request for an itunes digital copy but have been sent a generic response, basically saying no. Whether this is because I am in the UK or not I don't know, but they're not interested.

The whole UV experience is one of the WORST I've ever encountered and WB/flixster don't seem to give a flying f**k (as their statement at the top of this forum that they monitor but are not "active in this community" only goes to reinforce).

The only thing that we as consumers can do is to actively boycott UV and all it's horrible little add-on sites, and spread the word through as many different social media/ tech forums as we can.

The sooner UV dies a quick death, the better.

Awful con - yet another example of the Studios actively discouraging the use of technology. No wonder people download illegal torrents when the legal offering is soo poor, restrictive and overcomplicated. All I wanted was a simple iTunes redemption code like I used to get. I thought that the Triple Play discs were good value because of this, no I don't and won't buy any more.
