It wont post my reviews on my Facebook wall??

  • Problem
  • Updated 1 month ago
I have written over 500 reviews and people depend on me for my movie reviews. I always write them and post on my facebook wall. Now with this new Flixster, I was able to link my account and everything seems fine but when I wrote my latest review and hit Post, it did not post it on my wall. I have tried lots of diff options and it will not post....what do I do??

I'm in the same boat. It's all good you were trying to be compatible with the new facebook... but the new facebook isn't here.
I've posted two reviews tonight and nobody knows about them. Kinda pointless flixster. I used to use your service for quick reviews so my friends could see them. Guess I'll just have to stick to the long reviews on the websites I write for and link them on facebook. At least I get something in return for those...

The new Flixter app on Facebook is a crass, worthless, commercial piece of trash! All my movie ratings are gone. All the tools for seeing the list of movies my friends have seen are gone. My friends' ratings are gone. This was clearly not vetted by any actual users.

I even registered on the Flixter site using the Facebook Login option as suggested in the FAQ. It didn't help. I still couldn't access my movie ratings nor my friends' ratings.

I used the old app regularly. I see two to four movies a week and I've been rating them all. I'm done with Flixter now.

My concern is the reviews I've written in the time that the app hasn't been compatible with Flixter won't be added.

I also noticed that all my reviews on Flixter disappeared, then were added back, but all at once so I essentially lost the order and timeline I saw them in which was an important aspect for me to track how may I was watching a week and also to compile a Yearly "Best of" list. A lot of hard work and effort diligently reviewing is down the drain...

Cannot agree with you more. This change has been a total screw-up. 100's of reviews out of order. Guess they just do not value the people who have been using the app for years.

The LEAST that you could of done, is warn users, about not being able to post to your facebook wall, for the time being. I bet there are 1000's of people who are still wondering what the heck is going on.

It is not fair to the users - And I am sure it is not fair, to your customer service department, who is probably receiving 1000's of complaints, about this issue.

Not being able to post to your wall, makes this app, totally useless, to the vast majority of users.

Now, what about the movies that people have reviewed, in the time-frame that the wall posting is "down"??

I have a feeling that this was not well thought out.

Major FAIL

Took a while for me to find this thread and was going nuts with the new Flixsters not being able to post movie reviews to Facebook wall.

If and when they get Facebook wall posting up and running again, I hope I can post the reviews I have written to Flixsters during this Flixster - Facebook blackout.

On a side note this Flixsters fiasco finally made me start copying reviews to local system for safe keeping. Who knows when they are gone for good from Flixsters.

Like many of you, I've got of (small) reviews and ratings locked up in Flixster and people enjoying seeing my reviews. It looks like FB is to blame a little here, but Flixster could have managed this much better. I'll keep an eye on progress here.

While I like the new look of the Flixter site, I'm having some difficulty learning my way around the changes but more importantly I'm very unhappy that it won't post my reviews to Facebook. That is what I added this app for in the first place and if this defect isn't fixed very soon I will be uninstalling this app.

Facebook wall posts should be back now. Make sure you have checked *on* the "share on Facebook" box in the corner. If you previously granted Flixster the stream publish authorization, it will post automatically. Otherwise it should prompt you with a feed dialog.

thank you bryan! however, there is slight problem with previous fb posts on the flixster review: e.g.
http://apps.facebook.com/flixster/rev...

it's returning invalid URL.

however, I noticed the URL has been changed to
http://ultraviolet.flixster.com/user/...

what happen?

this is by design. the URL is not "invalid", it is redirect to our new destination app.

Nope. They still aren't posting, even when I click the 'share' button. I am doing it on reviews that I did earlier in the week. Is it a case that you only get one shot at posting?

sorry about that, bob. really it's meant for brand new movie ratings... the checkbox just tells the system to publish to facebook when you actually post a review or rating. it won't actually publish anything until you rate the movie or update your review.

since you're trying to do this for movies that you've already posted reviews for, just change your review text a little and click the "post" button. or you can quickly change your star rating and just change it back to what you want it to be. the act of changing something will trigger the system to post publish to your feed. just clicking the checkbox just tells it that you want to post to facebook when you update your rating/review.

My ratings still aren't posting to Facebook. I normally use Firefox but tried in IE as well. I'm also pretty annoyed that the new "app" appears to be the Flixster site inside a frame, and as soon as I search for a movie to rate there I am taken away from Facebook. All I'm interested in is a way to share my movie ratings with friends; I couldn't care less about actually watching movies on Facebook, which appears to be the main focus now. I'll probably be looking for a different movie rating app.

This IS posting when I follow the instructions. However, it just posts the title and star rating as a link. I have to cut and paste the review as a comment on my wall about it. For those friends of mine who want a review without installing Flixster, this is the only way around it. Very poor.

For several months now, Flixter has been consistently messing up in relation to Facebook. As you say, super weird and annoying.

Gah, I haven't used the app in five months and now it doesn't work! Same problem, won't post to my wall. When I edit the app settings in facebook, facebook says invalid permission and does nothing. Wondering about deleting it and reaccepting it... but dont want to lose my reviews...

Neither Facebook nor Flixter seems at all interested in fixing this problem or in responding to user complaints. A number of my friends have dropped Flixter for that reason and several have dropped Facebook likewise.

Well, I deleted it and reconnected the two, still nothing. I guess IM gonna stop using this too. Is there any other movie app that will post to your wall? One that isn't run by idiots?

Why couldn't they have just left it alone? Nobody cares about this ultraviolet crap (it wasn't even a good movie, though I love it's style and Milla). We just want a way to review films and share, compare, and follow, said reviews with our friends. It worked pretty good before. WTF flixter, wtf.

I haven't been able to find a good replacement. Netflix has a FB app for their customers who are not in the U.S.--they can't yet implement it here due to a privacy law that prevents movie rental businesses from sharing what their customers have watched, even with the customers' permission.

A Flixster employee upthread said that the redesign was tailored to work with FB's new Timeline. (Note that this was well before pretty much anyone HAD Timeline.) I'm waiting until FB absolutely makes me switch, but anyone who wants to get Timeline now can do that here: http://www.facebook.com/about/timeline

Supposedly Flixster will work better with that.

Flixster and Facebook both seem to be committed to screwing up their product with changes no one seems to want and most seem to hate -- that useless Timeline, for example, who would actually want that?

I've spent hundreds of hours researching and reviewing films (over 1200) and now I find I can no longer post to Facebook. I complained about this over three months ago and nothing has been done despite a promise to have fixed it. What a waste of time and energy. If they want people to network, at least give us the proper tools to do it.

Dunno what u guys are doing, but for me it works flawlessly now (and has done so last couple of weeks). Just tick the box with the Facebook-f before you rate the movie like Bryan said and it should work.
