I’m frustrated

Why can't i put my digital copy onto itunes so i can put it on my ipad?

i purchased the digital copy version thinking that i could watch it on my ipad. my ipad does not have 3g or 4g connection so i can not watch any of my movies on a device that i bought to watch my digital copies on. Does anyone know how to put these Ultra violent digital copies onto itunes so you can watch them on your ipad?

    Terrible idea. Terrible implementation. Terrible, terrible, terrible. Just allow everyone to download to Itunes. That's what everyone wants and expects. If this is about the customer, WB will quickly reverse direction and provide Itunes codes for digital copies.

    Wow is this a let down. No where online did it say that it was not the same iTunes compatible digital download that the rest of the movies have been. This is crap, this is the only movie in the whole collection that I can't actually download and put on my devices. This is NOT what I have come to expect from digital downloads. Shame on you WB for pulling the rug out from under consumers.

    Sour! Have spent hours trying to move my "digital copy" into iTunes. I feel very misled. Have sent emails to both iTunes and Warner Brothers and hope to get results.

    When your enter for a ticket number they are not reading them because i bought hp 2pt7 told them need refund for it and would like to have my two green lanter movies from itune so i could have them. So0 they just give me a code for hp 2 pt 7. great customer service still not even listening to the peolpe. get very very fustrated i will never buy any movie from any studio that uses ultra violet

  • Just be aware that it takes a LONG time to download. It took 4 hrs. to download to iTunes on my iMac.

    When I finally got my iTunes download code, it only took about 15 minutes to actually download. I'm glad that I got it, but I was disappointed in the "phoned in" response I got from Flixster....

    c'mon! I am an College graduate (2 Bachelor's Degrees) and was one of the first people I know to get my iPad and I learned it in all of about 5 minutes....I still don't get Flixster! How condescending of an answer! They just shot themselves in the foot with THAT response. I am sure that plenty of people will just line up to use their service after basically being told they don't learn fast enough.

  • FLIXSTER, this is bad. I buy copies of the these blu ray movies with a digital copy specifically to put on my iphone or ipod. My house is full of apple equipment, shared and linked together. Finding out that i had to download a new application and stream the movie rather than download to my device and transfer is a serious waste of time. It also nullifies the purpose of having a downloadable copy. My iphone internet stream is not strong enough to support streaming 1-2 hour movies. My ipod does not even have an internet connection and if im using your app at home, Id just use my netflix account because at least that plays on my home tv. Please just return to giving us codes for downloads on Itunes or WB. Because At this point it really doesnt make sense for me to spend the extra money for any digital copies. I really cant use them under the circumstances of this program. I literally made a purchase at a particular store JUST TO GET THE DIGITAL COPY CODE. Once i found out at the cash register it was through Flixster, I almost cancelled my purchase to go to another store.... Please just go back to digital downloads from Itunes or WB....

    I went to the ultraviolet website and contacted them and they sent me an iTunes code in about 5 hours. Downloading to iTunes as I type this. Along with the code the note referred to all the positive feedback they have received about ultraviolet and basically I was just not smart enough to utilize there technology properly.

  • I am EXTREMELY upset as well. This is ridiculous. I put in a ticket. I hope I get a code for this movie too. I just started downloading my movies. You can bet that I am going to be just as angry about the other ones that I have not attempted to download yet!!!

    I cannot BELIEVE that you have to even DELETE the APP as well as the movie each time! Then you have to download the app again each time. What a pain!!! Also, when I am online and can stream movies, I don't want to because it takes up too much data!

    What a horrible way to treat customers. Warner Brothers is doing a great disservice to themselves by forcing us to use UltraViolet. I can't believe we have to jump through so many hoops to get what we have paid for. This is going to be a case study in a few years. A "New Coke" type fiasco that business students will read about and just shake their heads at. What a waste of resources and customer good will to force something like this onto users.

    This is absolutely, positively poor positioning on the part of Warners Brothers and all of the businesses that back this ridiculous technology. The old way: Pt. 1, Insert disc into computer or simply click "redeem" in the Itunes store. Pt. 2, Download movie. Pt. 3, Access on Ipad, Iphone, AppleTV, etc. Now I have to download extra software, download apps, wait to download the movie into a million different places. I can't simply transfer it on and off via iTunes. I have been doing this and has taken so much more time. I WANT AN ITUNES CODE!!! This is the last digital copy enabled movie I will buy that uses ultraviolet. Get your act together and do what is best for the consumer who pays good and honest money for these movies.

    I submitted this in an e-mail tonight:

    I am writing this missive to express my strong displeasure with the new Ultraviolet Digital Download offered with our recent DVD combo pack purchase of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. The previous film (Part 1) offered a simple download code for us to get the film through iTunes, which was both quick and easy. As I have learned this evening, acquiring a digital copy for my daughter's iPod through your Ultraviolet service is anything BUT quick and easy.

    After being forced to register TWO accounts with TWO different services, both of which included notices about allowing for an invasion of my privacy (which was REQUIRED!), I was FINALLY presented with the option to download the digital copy promised on the DVD packaging. I was already annoyed by the number of hoops I was being forced to jump through in order to get the digital copy we were sold, but I was more LIVID upon learning that I'd have to download and install TWO applications I DO NOT WANT to my computer in order to get the movie. Furthermore, there seemed to be no guarantee that the film would work with iTunes and transfer to my kid's iPod after all that, so I simply exited the process in disgust.

    I did a quick Google search and noted several entertainment news articles boasting your Ultraviolet service as a means for movie watchers to stream films to their various mobile devices. It's also being touted as a way for the film industry to bypass iTunes and attempt to get a better grip on online piracy. But what I found particularly interesting was that, reading the comments posted after the articles, no one seems to be a fan of the service. All they want, as do I, is a simple download. Streaming is completely unnecessary if you actually HAVE a digital copy of the film! Instead, you're treating people who PAID for a DVD combo pack of the film like the pirates who probably downloaded the film from the Internet for free already. That is just insulting and unacceptable.

    I am asking that you would please provide me with a code or credit to download the film through iTunes. Otherwise, I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in your area regarding the misleading promise of a digital copy on the DVD packaging. I will be happy to provide proof of purchase upon request.

  • I guess because all of this complaint here, which I congratulate you guys, Flixster now allows for the movies that you download to transfer it to your iDevice. I can't prove it because I was so mad that I deleted my Flixster app, I don't like to deal with fraudulent people. But my wife, which she still have the app, download the latest update and she read that with the new update you can now download and transfer the movie to iDevices. I guess is a little too late for that. All of this could be avoided only if you had somebody smart enough in marketing to see this coming. At least this means that they are reading the complaints here.

    I agree, I as well have the Harry Potter 2 and Green Lantern I spent the extra money for blue ray disc, DVD, + Digital copy. yes Digital copy my foot, what part of you shall not steal...you do not understand- you took my money, false testament, you told me I was entitle to a digital copy of a movie I purchase- that I may place on my computer- well on my computer is my itunes account in which I watch my digital copies on my Ipod I can not do that- I can not download my 2 movies on my itunes account. talk about a big fat lie... so next time I want to pay extra for a movie so I may watch it an any time, place or device I need to look on the back of the DVD and if I do not see "works with iTunes listed in a little white box then buyer beware, well I guess I will not be fool again by false advertisement...talk about a big fat let down. And on a other note, when I was watching the movies on my computer while I was on line... it stop in middle of the movie and went to the start, I had to guess where I was and continue to find a spot to see and watch this happened 5 times during the movie...

    Thanks for your response. It has alleviated some of my dissatisfaction with the distribution of the digital copy. If you can not explain to me how I can stream this content to my Apple Tv or place it on a thumb drive to play on my Tv then all my issues will be resolved.

    I only have a dvd player hooked up to one of my Tv's hence the reason for purchasing a digital copy. With a true digital copy I can stream it to my Tv via iTunes or put it on a thumb drive and jack it into my Tv.

    I had the same initial reaction as most of the other respondents to this post and I would like to point out that I spend more time figuring out how to get this content onto some of my devices, then it would have taken me to Rip the DVD or get the content via some other channel.

    However, I feel that it would be far more constructive for us to work with Flixster to make the content work the way we are accustom to using it. This is a new service and it is bound to have its bumps and glitches. So I would just like to summarize for Flixster, if they are still lurking on this thread:

    Pros:

    You can play the content on most mobile devices (surprisingly even windows mobile)

    You can watch the content on your computer.

    If you happen to own a googleTv box or a TV with GoogleTV integrated, you can stream your content directly to the TV.

    Cons:

    If you want to enable offline content visibility, you must sync you device twice.
    The double sync method means adds complexity since when you are constrained by memory limitations on your mobile device.

    The content cannot be played on most Tv's. (can't pub in a thumb drive, stream via iTunes and not app in the Smart TV market place)

    I am sure others could add to the list, but from my perspective there are two critical shortcomings with ultraviolet: the lack of iTunes integration and the omission of the Flixster from some of the major smart TV app stores (LG and Panasonic)

    Not going to purchase any more if flixster is required. going to stick with ITunes. Just so much easier to use. Once downloaded I can put on and remove from my device with the click of a button, and dont have to re-download everytime I want to view purchased content. Plus I have downloaded a movie to my device and still says I need to be conected to WIFI to view. Just bad programing all the way around.

    I have spent way too much time trying to figure this new thing out other than enjoying my purchase. (they should pay us for all the time spent). It is a good idea in Theory, but only in Theory.

    It is a crap service. I only buy straight from iTunes now. I let Apple have a nice cut of the profits instead of purchasing a Blu-ray or DVD.   • I agree, Flixster is CRAP! Wait, it's more than CRAP, it's a gigantic HEAP OF CRAP! I also stream through Apple TV but now the kids have to put their sticky, greasy fingers on the disc itself, which leads to a shorter lifespan. I will not buy any DVD that uses Flixster as their "digital copy". I will rent the movie instead! Kids can touch those rental disc all they want. Flixster just lost a customer who normally BUYS his DVD...NO MORE! Thanks Flixster!

  • I downloaded movie to my PC and tried to play it. NOT ONE OF MY NUMEROUS VIEWERS WOULD ACCEPT THE FILE FORMAT. So, now I can't play it on my PC offline, can't play it on my iPad offline. I CAN ONLY WATCH THE DIGITAL COPY BY GOING TO THE ULTRAVIOLET WEBSITE!

    A digital copy is not defined as being able to use in iTunes. Please show me where it says that anywhere?

    A digital copy is defined as being able to view it on a mobile device, digitally. Has nothing to do with iTunes.

    I am able to watch this very easily on my Kindle Fire, iPad2, iPhone4(s as well) and google TV

    Now I would never watch it on my computer because lets be honest, I would just put in the hard copy I have into my blu ray player.

    On all my devices it streams very well and image quality is solid. I have zero complaints in that area.

    Only area I have issues with is, 3 year limit, and having to sign up in two places.

    But ease of use is there for me. Plus I like that I can throw in 5 other members into this and they can watch the movies as well.

    I think that is one of the best parts about it.

    But again Digital Copy IS NOT iTUNES COPY. Lets hope some of you can understand that.

  • You are right and wrong Matthew.

    The fact is, WB sold something as Digital Copy knowing darn well that the average consumer would believe they were still getting an iTunes compatible file. When in fact, they were not, they got a completely new "service". Some would call that false advertisement, but it is at least, misleading advertisement.

    And you are wrong about the timing. An actual Digital Copy(TM) file is forever usable. Defined here: http://www.wbdigitalcopy.com/home/#/G... by WB themselves... "...you can watch the movie as many times as you like." Limiting your file to 3 years is contradictory to this FAQ.

    I am glad you find the service useful, but this is not what many consumers thought they were getting, or even want. We want free use of our Digital Copy, not limited to streaming or downloading another App.

    In my case, I can't even use the service because my Flixter account is not communicating with my UV account. The biggest issue, UV won't get ahold of me to fix it regardless of how many emails I send them. They just don't care.

  • Yeah I guess I just don't get that worked up over it because I have had success with it and have no issues with it.

    In the end it seems all studios except disney and one other are not using it, yet.

    Disney may never just because of the Apple thing, but I just hope that they all come together and get it right. If it is itunes or flixster, whatever, just use one and get it right.

    THe easier they make it on a consumer the more the product will sell. I think apple has proven that fact.

  • I burns me that companies know that a product is not completely ready, send it out as ready and then have the consumer be their beta testers to work out all the issues that they didn't think of. Flixster worked but not very good off a wifi connection. Plus, I have a whole collection of movies. I don't want to have to download a purchased movie evertime I want to change it out on my portable device.

    That is the way it works these days. It happens in the gaming industry as well. The reason, they can't produce all of the scenarios that millions of people can when using it.

    Hell look at the whole iphone 4s battery issues. That still isn't fixed. So we are all beta testing still with not only the 4s but iOS 5.

  • Well, I've spent two hours of my time just to try to register for and download the UltraViolet copy so far. It would've been cheaper and faster just to buy the film for $14.99 on iTunes.

    Of course, it came packaged with a Blu-ray and DVD, so it's not like I can't rip it to watch it on my iPad, but then why bother with UltraViolet?

    • That's great that your 8 year old could figure it out, but it doesn't always work for everyone because of technical glitches that have been a problem with UltraViolet since day one. I also think you are missing the bigger picture, but if your happy with your purchase good for you.
    • Mathew, by the time this thread started, Flickster didn't have the downloading from the iPad, it was just streaming. They updated the app about a week after the whole digital copy fiasco. I know, 1. because I had the app by that time. Second, I wrote here in this thread. I guess people that bought the combo pack want to get the digital copy from the pc. But yes, now you can download it from Flickster's app from the iPad.

    This is the worst service I have ever seen in my life. I have a very comprehensive iTunes movie/music library. I only want my movies thru iTunes so I can watch on my Apple TV, iPad, iPhone or iPod when ever I want like I do with all my other movies. This service is so STUPID!     Have they resolved the issue where you have to stream it versus actually having it downloaded on your device? I got frustrated when we got HP 7p2 as I was under the impression I was getting a digital copy that I could download to my device (not 3G or 4G, wifi only) and found we couldn't access supposedly downloaded movie unless we had an internet connection. Totally defeated the purpose of using the iPad2 as a car movie reviewing device for the boys. I did complain and get an iTunes redeemable code shortly after complaining. I really don't care if we can't watch via iTunes Movies but was more upset with the need for an internet connection to watch my purchased digital copy. Also, the 3 year limit means they are only "renting" us the digital copy we purchased.

    You might of created a separate account email one of the customer services and hey can help with that but you can download to whatever device up to 5 different devices. You need to have the flixster app on your iPad to do it. And with the laptop go to the website and download it from there that's only 2 devices. You still have 3 more you can download it too. It's a big button says download

    I just got the app for android and there is NOT a download button even though everything you read says there should be.

    But then, probably does not matter since, apparently, you are in fact NOT downloading the movies for off internet viewing.

    And Itunes is not an option because they do not have an app for android.

    This is really fucking stupid of the companies not to support their customers. Certainly be way cheaper to just spend the 4 to 5 bucks on google play than to spend the extra $$ on this so called "digital copy"

  • I've tried to contact support to get the ITunes codes for the movies I've bought but cannot watch on my ipod and they have told me multiple times that the ITunes codes are not available. This is bs and I won't be wasting my money on WB movies with the UltraViolet "digital copy".

    Well, it's gotten to the point that too many movies I want to buy already have the UV digital copy, I go ahead and buy them, but I just don't redeem the codes. I then, if I really want a digital copy, buy it from iTunes.

    As an aside, has anyone noticed the new walmart program that lets you get "digital Copies" of all of your dvds? Of course it's ONLY through UV, which means, I won't be doing it. I do not enjoying dealing with their "customer service."
