I’m hopeful flock will take over

page up / down buttons and arrow up / down respond sporadically

page up / down buttons fail to respond correctly - same windows XP machine is fine on other apps yet flock sporadically does things like jump to extreme bottom on page down instead of going to next page down - also arrow up / down behaves wrong as it fails to reach bottom of page on down arrow

I also have this problem. Originally, it was so minor that I could ignore it, but now, it's happening so often that it's just annoying.

When I'm at the top of the page and press page down, sometimes it works okay, but sometimes it goes immediately to the bottom of the page. It's the same when I sometimes use the directional buttons.

My quickfix for the directional buttons is to click on the main browser so that I can have the insertion point for text visible. But it isn't so great a solution when I have to scroll to the middle of a really long page.

I hope this gets some help because apparently it still hasn't gotten a reply since 8 months ago :(

    Page up/page down not working

    F7 toggles caret browsing.

[Mozilla and Microsoft Internet Explorer 8]

Unable to scroll with arrow keys

If you are unable to scroll vertically or horizontally using the arrow keys on your keyboard, you may have accidentally enabled Caret Browsing.

Caret Browsing is enabled/disabled by pressing F7 and allows you to navigate a web page just as you would in a word processor. A caret appears somewhere in the document and can be moved with the arrow keys and used to select text and click links using only the keyboard.

If Caret Browsing is disabled, pressing F7 will display a warning. If you checked "Do not show me this dialog box again", then Firefox will enable Caret Browsing without prompting for permission. To reset this to the default behavior, do the following:

In about:config search for the preference called accessibility.warn_on_browsewithcaret.

Double-click on the key to set its value to true

Thanks for this. I've disabled Caret Browsing and everything's fine now :)

  • I’m unsure
While pressing F7 temporarily disables caret browsing, every time I turn my comp on again, it goes back to Caret browsing. Would you know of a permanent way to disable this?

  • I’m the hell-in, but happy it's fixed.
Yeah, does exactly the same on my HP Compaq 6720s laptop. Now they tell me to disable plug-ins and add-ons. Hell, the reason I use Flock is because Firefox is SO SLOW and the Beta version is ripe to crash your computer. I only use ABP on Flock. I have disabled every plug-in and every add-on, and the keyboard "home", PgUp, PgDn, end, up arrow, down arrow, do nothing right. Down arrow goes to end of page, up arrow goes to top of page, home does nothing, end does nothing, page up and page down respond sporadically. Consequently since this does not happen in Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer 8, Apple Safari, Google Chrome, there is a problem inside Flock's coding. Otherwise my computer is overheating and I need to rest it. Duh! It's been on for 8 hours already and I use it almost exclusively. It ought to be able to handle this. It's nice and warm too. Keeps my fingers moving. But I do not believe that it's the HP laptop. My educated opinion is the Flock coding and how it handles these keyboard commands.

Then I read above about F7 and VOILA! Everything is now working as it should. Wish I had known that weeks ago, it would have saved me HOURS of frustration, correspondence, ping-pong with the support staff, and so fifth.
