  • I hate it. Please give me the option to display feeds like the previous version did.

To me, the whole point of rss feeds is that they give you a snippet of a bigger story and you can then drill down to the full article. Tis worked REALLY WELL on the previous version with it one-line-per-source but the new versions full screen per source makes no sense.

I used to really like flud, used it more than once every day but I'm sorry to say that I'll be looking for an alternative product now unless I can go back to the previous way of viewing things.

  • Hi Daven, Thanks for your feedback. We are actually seeing a bug: http://theflud.tumblr.com/post/139283... that is being fixed right now.

We appreciate your thoughts and will get this working as normal in no time!

  • Yeah...but that'snot the problem. The problem is that now you have to flip...through....each....feed rather than quickly scroll through ALL your feedson one page. The update has rendered the app useless for its purpose of being an efficient newsreader.
    • Hi - Thanks for posting. We did make some major design changes with the new version. In our research we found that users were able to scan news faster and easier with the new functionality. One aspect of this is the "reading list" button so you can add articles when scanning headlines on the home screen. I know it's a big change but we think it's for the best, and hope you'll join us on the new Flud! As always we appreciate your feedback and thoughts :) -Dani

  • I’m Happy I found an alternative
Exactly. I mean I appreciate the reply but it was completely irrelevant to my point.

I'm using Taptu right now and it seems to do things the 'old flud' way. Pretty good, and exactly what I need.

  • I couldn't agree more with the usefulness and effectiveness of the old flud. One row per feed is a lot better as a news aggregator app.

    Just my 2c

  • I’m Annoyed
    Erica/Dani

We get a lot of thanks for our opinion and continually told how important our opinion is but none of you actually address the issues we raise. According to Dani, the "old one was great" so why make such a radical change, especially one which reduces the usefulness of the app as a news aggregator.

So let me ask you this: are you planning on putting the old interface back in to flud as an option or are we stuck with the new design?

I think you'll lose a lot of users to Taptu or Zite if you stick with the new interface.

    I’m Optimistic
Hi Daven-- Founder/designer of Flud here.

It is true that we appreciate all the feedback that we get from our users, so please keep your thoughts flowing our way.

The old design was a great app design indeed. It got our platform a lot of attention and dare I say it, it spurred a flood of competitors to copy it. Therein lies the problem... too many people were doing what we were doing and we didn't stand out enough. That just annoyed me. We needed something fresh, not just in the design, but in the platform. Something that looked toward 2013/2014, not just 2012. So we have come up with a daring set of ideas that will be implemented over the next year or two.

The things we have planned for Flud 2.0 are quite great. The old design wasn't scaleable enough to fit to our ideas so we threw it away and started afresh. The new design isn't perfect, but nothing is on first try. A lot of time, research, and user feedback went into the new design and a majority of our users love it. We are confident that it will grow on you and start to make more sense in the upcoming updates.

I hope I was able to help a bit here.. please don't feel as though we are ignoring you. Feedback is golden, we know it and we need it all the time.

    My best-
    Bobby

  • Hi Bobby, thanks for taking the time to reply.

It's true that there are several apps that present the news in the same format as flud 1 but flud just did it better. I guess that's why I'm so disappointed in flud 2.0

The social aspects of flud 2 are of no interest to me, do we really need another social networking medium? I don't think so, although many will enjoy these features, I don't see what's wrong with the post to Facebook option that most of these apps have.

Unfortunately flud 2.0 removed itself from what I need from this kind of app and has been replaced with Taptu, which although a little buggy, does exactly what flud 1 did.

You could of course cover both ends of the market by re-releasing flud 1 in the app store, perhaps under a different name. That would keep everyone happy.

  • Hmmm I've got to say we'd never keep two completely different versions of our app in the app store. That would be a logistical nightmare because we'd never update the old app. I really think you should invite a couple of your friends to join Flud and start fluding together. The value of the social features will be immediately apparent if you do.

Daven, lets live for what is to be, not what was. Let the old Flud go, the new one is better. Join the movement... give in... its better this way.

  • I'll stick with Taptu. Does what I want.

    Good luck nonetheless.

  • Daven, out of curiosity... what features does the old Flud have that the new Flud doesn't?
