Why can't I read full articles anymore?

I used to see full articles before the latest update.

  • I’m annoyed and confused
It seems like the only way to read an entire article after clicking it is to put it in the reading list then switch to it. Super annoying, or am I missing something?

    • Well, that is quite impressive. To receive a response directly from the CEO. I would be quite the jerk to simply throw complaints at you and not be willing to also provide constructive feedback. If you have my email from my account registration, please send me a skype POC and I will contact you. I am from the US, but I am currently in Germany. So we're 6 hours ahead of EST.

To give you some data beforehand, I am using the app on a first gen iPad (Model MC497LL) running iOS 5.0.1 (9A405). I am connecting via wifi on a Airport Extreme router, and I was ten feet from the router while connected. Signal quality in my home is good, and the router is positioned for best signal and minimal EMI from other sources.

I was running FLUD 2.0 when I left my comment here. This morning, I saw that you had posted 2.01, and I updated via the app store app on the ipad. I am currently downloading 2.01 on iTunes on the computer I sync with. Immediately upon launching 2.01, the app asked me to leave a rating (poor timing there) which I did. I was able to view a whole article, but I did not have enough time to fool around with the new update to get a feel for it or to determine if there are any bugs remaining.

I will make some time between now and when I hear back from you to play around with the app, so that I can discuss it with you intelligently. My first look impressions are that the UI is counter intuitive. Button function appears vague and the graphics do little to hint at their purpose. Navigation seems initially less than natural. I am not immediately sure of the purpose of the reader function unless it allows me to cache articles for offline reading. At first glance, what you are calling the "social" aspect of the app seems more like an attempt to integrate my existing use of social media and my existing use of news aggregation, and stamp your apps footprint on feedback and buzz I generate for free advertising of your app. I will look very hard at your app to see if it's providing me with anything I don't get elsewhere, but so far it just looks like a third new interface for me to learn in order to use my existing services. It doesn't look like an enabler, it looks like buggy middleware.
    • Of course the rating screen appearing right when you open the app for the first time is a mistake that we are fixing for the next update which is coming out soon.

Please spend time with the new app that you just downloaded. There are of course still bugs inside it. We are a small team here, but we are moving as efficiently as possible to fix bugs for the next couple of releases.

I don't want to go into our account records to look up your email but please add me to skype bobby.the.rabbit is my handle. Happy to speak to you.

By the way, we spent a lot of time coming up with this design, I think if you used it a few times you would get its benefits quickly.

I hope we can speak soon. I hate to see unhappy users, so don't leave us unhappy :)

  • I'm having the same problem aswell. the only way to read a full article is to add it to your reading list. I hope this changes ASAP because it doesn't make sense to clutter your reading list every time you read some articles

  • I am also having the same issue. When I try to switch to web view, it takes me to the next truncated story. The only work around is to save to the reading list.

Also, I need to refresh every feed to see the new stories. Under the earlier versions, the streams would automatically refresh when opening the app or scrolling to the new streams.
