Why won't my projects published to a single sfw display properly?

  • Question
  • Updated 3 years ago
When I publish my project as a single swf, and play the swf, it is blank. The swf opens in the Flash player, but is totally blank. This is even so if the project has only 1 page, with test text only on it. It displays fine when I preview it before publishing. Am I missing something in the publishing process?

Hello Curly, what version of Flash plug is installed on your workstation? What version of Flypaper do you have installed? If this issue continues to occur, please feel free to contact Tech Support @ 866-553-6610 or email: support@flypaper.com. Thank you. Anthony

Curly,

Another possible reason why the SWF will not display is that you may need to set a your security for Adobe Flash to allow the SWF file to run in your browser. Please follow the steps below:

1. Launch the .SWF file as you normally would. You will have a blank browser page
2. Right mouse click in the blank page and click on "Settings"; an Adobe Flash Player Settings will appear
3. On the 'Privacy' tab, click on the "Advanced..." button; another webpage will appear
4. Under the "Settings Manager" click on the "Global Security Settings" tab
5. Click on the "Edit Locations" | "Add Location" | Browse for folder... or type in the location in the bar
a. If you click the "browse for folder..." you will be prompted to navigate to the desired location by navigating your system directory tree.
b. Click "OK"
6. Close the Adobe webpage
7. The next problem you may run into is ActiveX control. Simply right click the "ActiveX" prompt & click "allow".

Now your SWF file will run.

I have this problem as well and your settings suggestions do not fix it. I can display it from the creator PC but not from the destination PC even after making the suggested changes to the settings manager

when you made the GSS adjustments, the changes take effect? if more than one browser is open at the time of the global security settings (GSS) had been modified, sometimes the changes don't take affect as desired (this has happened to me before). Please re-verify and let us know if this helps. Thank you. -anthony

Curly, we found this to be a framework bug in the singleswf.swf file.
you will need to replace it with an updated one, which we have. we can send it to you. please provide us your email address to support@flypaper.com and we'll send it. once received, you will need to rename the file to "singelswf.swf" vice "singleswf.sw_". then copy it to the following file path:

c:\program files\flypaper\runtime

that should fix the problem for you. -anthony

That fixes the problem playing it on my content server.
Now I need to find a way to get it to work in Samsung MagicInfo Pro
Settings are right, but still a blank white screen

I made the changes and it worked, but what I am trying to do is embed the flash file within a PDF. This PDF will be paced on a server and distributed throughout the company. Will everyone have to change these settings for the swf to work?

No one hwill ave to change these settings for the SWF to work. The Single SWF you are using will be diseminated to everyone who views the PDF with the embedded SWF.

Vincent, the way we publish content is by embedding the SWF files within our Newsletter which is created in InDesign. After making the changes to the SWF file as you described, I can get it to play by itself, but once I import it into InDesign it plays the white screen again.

This is once again the Global Security Settings enforced by Adobe Flash player. The good news is that we are going to release a version of the software which bypasses these settings very soon.

Good because right now I can't use it for what I need it. Any idea when that will be rolled out?

Thanks

Hey Guys,

I am loving using Flypaper but was rather disheartened when I came up against this problem. I am glad that it was not something that I was doing wrong. I look forward to the release of the new version.

Cheers,

Drew

Hey Guys,

Thanks for your help with my problem that I was experiencing with successfully publishing .SWF files - copying over the singleswf.swf seemed to resolve it.

However since upgrading to Flypaper V3.1 I am now experiencing a similar issue. Do I need to copy over the singleswf.swf file again?

Thanks in advance,

Drew

Drew,
You shouldn't have to. But if reapplying the file will correct the problem, please do so. Please let us know how it goes. Thank you.

Hi Guys,

I just start using the trial version of Flypaper too and i'm trying to get the boss to shell out for the full version but i cant get this to work so I can do a proper demo with him.

I need to get a SWF to run standalone in something like a FLASH movie player.

Can I get this fix too?

Cheers,
Paul

My published project only opens in IE or Flypaper.
When I play my project, in IE, my pages with video when the video finishes the screen goes black. I am unable to use navigation buttons; the screen is black.
I have to refresh; the project goes back to first page.
