"More sizes" not scrolling?

For some reason, certain options are not scrolling like Prints and Posters and Canvas. Metal does scroll when selecting "more sizes" option. For example check here: http://www.leftyimages.com/galleries/...

Any ideas?

Thanks.

    Hi Francis,

Thanks for the post. I took a look at the page at the link you posted and was able to scroll down in the list of More Sizes - I've attached a screenshot so you can see that i was able to get to the bottom of the list.

If you're still seeing this problem, please give me the step-by-step process that you followed to see something not scroll and I'll be happy to take another look. I haven't seen any other reports of this issue so I'm curious as to why/where you're seeing this happen.

    Thanks and kind regards,
    Derek

  • Thanks for picking that up Derek. I was using Safari and I closed and reopened and flushed the cache. This is what I see.

There is no scrolling bar. When I do scroll the webpage scrolls but not the "more sizes" options.

This is what is looks like when I can scroll using Metal.

I opened in Firefox and for some reason it does scroll?

So is it a Safari issue? I tried another computer with Safari and it does the same thing. It does behave properly in Firefox and Chrome.

  • I'm not at home right now, but on my MB Safari 6.2.6 on Mountain Lion it scrolls as long as I click on the scroll bar on the right and drag up and down. With "Metal" if I use the scroll wheel then it scrolls without having to click on the scroll bar on the right to drag up and down. My home is Yosemite so likely a later version of Safari?

  • Hi Francis,

Just updating an older thread here as I found that it was never closed. I just tested your site on Safari 6.2.6 on Mountain Lion, and the "More Sizes" panel is scrolling both by dragging the scrollbar and by scrolling with a scroll wheel.

If you're continuing to see this issue please do let us know and I'll be happy to continue investigating!

    Kind regards,
    Derek

  • It still is happening just tested with Safari 10.0.3 and a Magic Mouse. Does not happen with Firefox. Running on OS X Yosemite.

  • Hi Francis,

Thank you for re-checking this, and I was able to reproduce the problem. I've tested it on all modern browsers on Windows and Mac and it appears to only be happening in Safari, on sites where there are enough print sizes enabled to cause the list to be taller than the Widget...thus the scrollbar.

To be frank I have never seen this happen before, and I think you are the first one to catch this, so first of all, congrats! I think part of the reason this was never brought up is because by default Fotomoto wouldn't typically show enough image sizes on the More Sizes pane to cause there to be a scrollbar in the first place.

I will definitely put a ticket in for our engineering team to address this, but it may take some time for them to prioritize getting it fixed, so in the meantime I have a suggestion: you may want to show less print sizes there, and not only bypass the problem alltogether, but your customers may appreciate a less overwhelming list of options. I can see that not all the print sizes you have available will fit your images anyway, and those that don't fit will require the customer to crop. So, I'd suggest that more ideal would be to show only print sizes that fit the image.

I'd be happy to help you get this set up if you're interested. I'd just need to know the answer to a few questions:

    1. Do you want your users to have to crop any images that don't match the aspect ratios of the prints offered or would you prefer that Fotomoto just makes the print sizes fit the images without cropping?

    2. Are the vast majority of your images at the same aspect ratio?

Let me know what you think here and thanks again for pointing out the bug!

    Kind regards,
    Derek
