at cost sells

In the coupon section there is a "sell at cost option". How does this work exactly? I just want to make sure that fotomoto is taking whatever the total sale is and not charging me an additional 15%.

Thanks

  • Hi Stacy,

We have explained here how we charge our customers:
    http://support.fotomoto.com/fotomoto/...

There is absolutely no hidden cost or other fees. You can always review your balance via the Control Panel. Your balance is the sum of order amounts minus our 15% transaction fee and print costs.

The "sell at cost option" means that you don't want to make a profit on a specific picture.

  • I would like further information on this point. Specifically, if I look at the pricing table I see the following under canvas prints where I have my profit set to 50%:
    Size: 24"x48"
    Selling Price: $483
    Fotomoto Cost: $251
    Estimated Profit: $125.74

If I add up the Fotomoto cost and estimated profit, it doesn't add up to $483. I assume maybe it's the 22% transaction fee that would be charged, although that still doesn't come to $483.

Also, if I make a "sell at cost" coupon code and go to my website, it starts as $483 and after the discount it comes to $251. That might imply that the customer will pay the $251 and I will have to pay the 22% transaction fee out of my pocket. Is that correct? Please clarify all of this. I would think it'd be best if "at cost" meant "the artist makes no profit, but the customer covers the 22% transaction fee so the artist doesn't have to pay anything out of pocket, either."

    Thanks! :)
    Dave

    Hi Dave,

Thank you for your questions, and here are the answers for you:

    1. Just so it's clear, the transaction fee (for Free plans) is 22% of the selling price, or $106.26. If you add that to the Fotomoto Cost you should get $483.

    2. "At-cost" coupons (cost of prints only) were designed for use by sellers who want test prints of their own work, where you would be billed for any additional costs. In your example, yes $251 would be the charge for the order and you'd be billed for any other charges.

If you want to give customers a steep discount, I'd suggest setting up an X%-off coupon instead.

I hope that helps and kind regards,
    Derek
