Buy buttons only when picture enlarged - not under each and every one

I installed fotomoto and think in general it could be a nice idea. However, having those buy buttons / words under each and every picture destroyes the layout on my page. I've seen other pages where the buying option only appears when the customer clicks on a specific picture to enlarge it and then gets the option to buy in a single button (e.g. smugmug etc)
Any chance we're seeing such thing with fotomoto soon.

  • Or maybe have the button appear in a corner of the picture only when the customer hovers over it? Anyway... something more subtle would be nice\

    Hi Sabrina,

Thanks for your post, and sorry if we didn't make it clear enough that you can customize Fotomoto! By default, Fotomoto sticks the "Buy" links under your image, but you have the option to customize all kinds of things.

We designed Fotomoto to give you full control over the CSS used to present the Buy links (see Customizing the Buy Buttons), and give a few options in the Dashboard that you can use to customize the text and other things. If that's not enough, you have *complete* control over the Fotomoto Buy links if you use our API, but that might be more than you need.

Regarding your desire to have the "buying option only appear when the customer clicks on a specific picture to enlarge it and then gets the option to buy in a single button", that is basically how Fotomoto works with various "lightboxes" that we support. If you go that route, just keep in mind that your customers might miss seeing the Buy links at all if they're not visible until the image opens in the lightbox. Overall, Fotomoto is designed to help you sell your work, and if that's your focus, we don't recommend hiding the buy links =)

That all said, it's completely up to you where and how you want the buy links to show, and we built Fotomoto in a way that gives you such freedoms. I would be happy to show you how to make this happen with Fotomoto on your site. Why don't you send me a message via http://support.fotomoto.com/customer/..., including your website URL. and if you can show me a mockup of how you want your buy links to look, I can tell you how.

Hope that helps and kind regards,
    Derek
