Buy buttons don't work right with Weebly

I've set up a website for my photography, and I built it on weebly.com. I've put the fotomoto for fancybox script into my site's code, but the buttons apear dark, they are behind the image, and they cannot be clicked.

Can you help me re position the buttons?

Here's a screen shot. --> http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/...

  • Hi Luke,

    Thank you for your question and sorry for the issue here; it appears that Weebly recently made some changes to their galleries and they're now using the fancyBox library for their "lightbox" image view.

    So, if your gallery uses fancyBox, you need to set it as the Script Library in your Dashboard as explained in How do I use Fotomoto with a custom Javascript library.

    Next, the newest version of fancyBox uses a CSS z-index value for the overlay, and the result is that our Buy Buttons at the top of the window are not in front, and very hard to see. I suspect that's the case with your site.

    If that's the case, you can add some custom CSS to your Fotomoto Dashboard to fix this as explained in Customizing the Buy Buttons.

    What you'll want to do is change this:

    .FotomotoToolbarClass{
    text-align:left !important;
    }

    to this:

    .FotomotoToolbarClass{
    text-align:left !important;
    /*make Buy Buttons appear on top of FancyBox background*/
    z-index: 10000;
    }

    which sets the z-index of our Buy Button toolbar to be higher than what fancyBox is using. That should resolve the issue for you.

    Please note we have been speaking with the developers of fancyBox about the possibility of improving how it works with Fotomoto, and hopefully this won't be an issue in the future.

    I hope that helps and kind regards,
    Derek

  • " .FotomotoToolbarClass{

    } " does not exist in my site's CSS.. :/

    Where should I put the new code?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Luke,

    You'll want to follow the instructions on where to add the custom CSS in the Customizing the Buy Buttons article. It's in your Fotomoto Dashboard > Settings > Store Appearance > Show CSS.

    I hope that helps and kind regards,
    Derek

  • I’m confused and frustrated
    I had fotomoto coded into the blog portion of my website and it was linking the buy button to all my images, but now is only linking to images that are not a part of the lightbox gallery. You can no longer purchase photos from my site in galleries. How can I get those photos linked again?!

  • Derek,

    This was working after you replied to my message (thanks for the quick response, by the way), but now is not working again.

    At first the buy buttons were totally gone...I messed with the coding a little (per your instructions in this thread) and now the buy buttons are just appearing on the very top of the screen (see below).

    How do I get them back on the bottom where people can actually see them?

    Hi Kevin,

    Unfortunately there is currently no way to make the Buy Buttons appear in a pleasing and consistent way under the image with fancyBox - please see my reply here for the full explanation.

    As I mentioned, we're in contact with the fancyBox developers to try and improve the situation, as we'd really like to offer a way to better-control the position of the Buy Buttons. You may want to drop them a line and let them know that you'd love to see that happen as well.

    In the meantime, I hope the current state of affairs works for you, as Weebly has switched to using fancyBox and I'm not aware of any other options for Weebly galleries.

    Not what you wanted to hear probably, but I hope the explanation helps.

    Kind regards,
    Derek

  • I’m confused, frustrated
    I used Weebly to create my online artist's portfolio and I have a Pro account. I feature my illustrations and paintings in slideshows and do not know whether or not its fancyBox or lightBox that I've used.

    It sounds like I have to reorganize my images out of a slideshow in order to use Fotomoto with my Weebly site- is that true? The slideshow is the best option for showcasing lots of work without cluttering the page, how can I make it compatible with Fotomoto?

    Thanks

  • Hi Jillian,

    Thanks for your question. Slideshows are a nice solution for customers to browse a collection of your images, but as with any website, your audience and their needs really determine the best way to present your images.

    Fotomoto works with a few different image gallery libraries listed here.

    If you have questions about the setup for your specific site, just email us with your site URL and we'll be happy to take a look and help you!

    Kind regards,
    Derek
