I’m Perplexed!

Buy Buttons Overlapping, showing up in Slideshow and Panoramic Photo Questions

I'm just getting my website setup on Weebly and am having a couple problems with my buy buttons on my gallery pages. I've gone through all the troubleshooting topics and haven't been able to fix it myself through the CSS. I believe I have changed everything back to the original script so you can have a look. My questions/problems are:

- All my buy buttons are overlapping (all left aligned) on each of my gallery pages. Is it possible to remove these all together and just keep the buy buttons on the individual photos in the lightbox view?

- On my homepage I have a slideshow and understand Fotomoto doesn't work with Weebly slideshows, which is fine, but as the slides change the buy buttons show up through the photos.

- None of the photos on my Panoramic page seem to be able to be purchased. They all have buy buttons but when clicked, it says "This photo is not able to be purchased". Is this because the Fotomoto developers do not develop panoramic photos or is there something I can change in the settings for these pics to be purchased?

My website address is www.tyvanthuynephotography.weebly.com. Please have a look and let me know if there is anything I can do to fix these issues.

Thanks,

Ty

    Hi Ty,

    Thanks for your post and for reading the articles on the subject!

    What you can do here is increase your "Minimum Width or Height for Images" setting to 225 (just larger than your gallery thumbnails). This way the thumbnails will be ignored, and only your larger lightbox versions will show Buy Buttons.

    As for the slideshow, you can either set the slideshow images to Not For Sale, or better yet you could add the "nofotomoto" class to the slideshow images. See this article for more on how to do both.

    Lastly, to resolve the "This photo is not able to be purchased" issue, you just need to set the pricing for Panoramic prints as explained in this article. Sorry for any confusion here - we don't enable those print sizes by default in your Dashboard, so you just need to enable them all and set prices.

    Thanks for using Fotomoto and kind regards,
    Derek

  • I’m much better now!
    Thanks Derek!

    - I changed my width/height to 225 and that worked perfectly.

    - As for the slideshow, I tried to use the 'nofotomoto' HTML code you sent me but I couldn't find the correct place in the Weebly index.html for my home page to make it work correctly. It kept showing up as an 'X' picture with the text "this is an image that should not have fotomoto buy buttons on it" either above or below my slideshow. I've temporaraly fixed the problem with your other recommendation of changing the photos used in the slideshow to 'Not for Sale' but I'm still playing around with it because I still want these photos for sale through my other pages.

    - I think I have fixed the panoramic photo problem by making a new collection for panoramic photos and setting the prices for 'Panos'. Thanks for the advice!

    So, I guess my only question is, do I need to upload the same photo twice so I can use one for the slideshow set as 'Not for Sale' and the other to be used in the photo pages set as 'For Sale'. Does this make sense?

    Thanks again for your excellent advice,

    Ty

    Hi Ty,

    You're very welcome - I'm glad to help.

    On the slideshow, it sounds like the nofotomoto class might have been applied incorrectly somehow, as it shouldn't result in any text appearing by your image. If you want to attempt this again, please just check that the HTML for the images looks like this:

    Let's try to get the above working instead of making the images Not For Sale. Give it another shot and if you have issues just let me know and I'll take a look at your page.

    Kind regards,
    Derek

  • Thanks Derek,

    I'm still unsure where I should be looking for the slideshow image HTML because I didn't create the slideshow and don't fully understand web coding. I used the multimedia slideshow button from the Weebly site design to create it.

    I've looked at the style sheet and the index HTML through the Weebly design page and this is all I can see. I'm not sure what refers to the slideshow:
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtm...>

    {title}

    {logo max-height="65"}

    {menu}

    {content}

    {footer}

    If Javascript is disabled browser, to place orders please visit the page where I sell my photos, powered by Fotomoto.
    {content}

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Please explain where I should be including the HTML you sent me earlier.

    Thanks,

    Ty

  • Sorry Derek, it's not allowing me to copy and paste the HTML from Weebly.

    Any way I can send this to you or allow you to access my design page?

    Hi Ty,

    I took a look and my apologies - there doesn't appear to be a way to add the "nofotomoto" class to individual slideshow images, so I'll have to take back my suggestion.

    I think the best thing to do here would be to assign your home page (with the slideshow) to a new Weebly Page Type where the Fotomoto Script isn't installed. Here's are the abbreviated steps on how to do this:

    1. Log in to Weebly, go to the Design tab in your Weebly editor, select Design, then select your theme in the row, and click Edit HTML/CSS as shown in our tutorial.
    2. On the next screen under Page Types, click Add new type, and do *not* put the Fotomoto Script on that page type. Click Save button.
    3. Go to to the Pages tab in Weebly editor and select your home page (the one with the slideshow) under Manage Pages, then switch the Page Type to the type you created in Step 2 above.

    The result will be that the Fotomoto Script isn't loaded on your home page, so no Buy Buttons will appear on the slideshow.

    I hope that helps and kind regards,
    Derek
