Download & License File Creation

I'm using "Auto Pickup" with high resolution image files (TIFF) already loaded on an ftp server for print orders. After reading "Selling downloads and licenses" (September 01, 2011) I ask, for clarity, if a customer requests and image license for a "Wallpaper" or "Screen size" license, does Fotomoto create these license files from the high resolution file or do I create them and upload them for "Auto Pickup"? If I have to create the license files what are the naming conventions so that Fotomoto knows which file to use (i.e., the high resolution file for printing or the downloadable licensed file?

    Hi Paul,

Thanks for checking out the documentation, and I'm happy to clarify this for you here.

We only use your high-resolution files to create the products ordered by your customers, whether they be downloads or prints.

When an order is placed, our system will try and use Auto Pickup to find the necessary high-resolution image(s). If we can't find the images using the information in your Auto Pickup profile, we will alert you via email (and in your Dashboard) that a high-resolution image needs to be uploaded (within 48 hours) to complete your order. You can follow the links in the email or the Dashboard to manually upload the needed file(s).

If the product ordered is for a "Wallpaper" or "Screen size" download, our system will automatically reduce the provided high-resolution file as needed to match the final output resolution.

Finally, we highly recommend that you place a test order (at cost) to check the quality of products being offered to your customers. This also helps to familiarize yourself with the order process.

I hope that helps and kind regards,
    Derek

  • Thank you for the incredibly fast response.

Your answer confirms what I surmised from your documentation. I appreciate the confirmation.

I am in the process of submitting multiple test orders, i.e., different sizes, papers, prints, fine art and canvas, frames etc., ...

I'm looking forward to the results.

    Thanks again.
