Fotomoto compatibility with Joomla responsive template

I've tried everything and fotomoto still doesn't work properly with my template in joomla. The buy toolbar appears double in some images, it doesn't not turn up in others and it's ok in some. I contacted the template developer and he told me it could be a script incompatibility but he cannot give a solution to it. I'd be so grateful if you could help me out. I need to find a solution as this is the template I love!

  • Hi Mila,

Thank you for contacting us about your site. I took a look and can see the Buy Buttons on your small thumbnail images. The double Buy Buttons are caused because our Script is picking up some clear transparent images that occupy the same space. I moved some of those to the Not for Sale collection as described in How do I exclude a photo from my store? so now most of the images only show one set of Buy Buttons.

Typically it's best to display the Buy Buttons on the larger view of an image, like when you click the thumbnails on your site. The trouble is that the lightbox-view on your site seems to be using a library that's not supported. For a list of those that are please see What scripts, libraries and plugins does Fotomoto support?.

That said, you could show the Buy Buttons as they are and still use Fotomoto, it's just not ideal. If the developer can't help you with the theme, I'm sorry to say that the best option is likely to use a different theme that uses supported libraries, or use one of the services that work with Fotomoto listed here.

I really like your work, and hope that you can find a solution that's compatible with our service. If there's anything else we can do to assist you please let us know.

    Kind regards,
    Derek

Thanks very much for your reply. I also thought about leaving the buy buttons that way but the problem is that the ecard preview doesn't work, and sometimes the previsualization of the images in general don't show either. I'm still waiting for the developer to tell me a possible solution. So far, I've tried many and it seems impossible to make this work.
I found it so difficult to find a theme I really like that I just can't think of the idea of starting all over again with another. There must be a way to get this fixed!!!

  • Hi Mila,

No problem - I'm glad to help as I can!

You're absolutely correct - leaving the Buy Buttons on the thumbnails isn't ideal, but the trouble is they're not showing up as expected on the "lightbox" view where the larger image shows.

You're also correct that there is a way to get this fixed, but it would likely require some development effort on the part of the theme creator to get the Buy Buttons to appear. You might let them know that we can drive some traffic their way if they were to make their theme 100% compatible with our service. Our engineers can assist them if needed. Feel free to pass this link along to them for more info on the benefits. Let us know if you contact them and we can follow-up.

Otherwise, to get you going, the next best option is to switch to something we're already compatible with, but we understand you like the theme you have - it's a nice one, it just doesn't appear to be compatible with Fotomoto yet.

Just let us know how we can help you best going forward here!

    Kind regards,
    Derek
