Getting fotomoto to recognize featured image in wordpress

Hi,

I have a front end that is written with AJAX. It is called overlay and I can turn it on or off in my theme options. It displays the photo, title, exif and navigation buttons. To load an image, I give the photo type (landsape, portrait, etc.) that I create on the dashboard. Then I use my desired image as a featured image and I leave the photo text area blank.

With the overlay turned on, the buy buttons don't seem to work but if I turn overlay off and insert the photo into the post, I get buy buttons. This is not as nice as having the buy buttons in overlay, there are no navigation buttons and I am constantly switching back and forth from my gallery, losing where I was in the photo gallery. It feels clunky and not that easy to use.

Is there a way to get the buy buttons on the overlay version, using only the featured image?

Thanks, David

    Hi David,

Fotomoto works with a number of JavaScript image gallery libraries listed here.

I can't tell from your description which library you're using, so could you post the URL for a page on your site where I can see what you're describing?

If it's one we support as above we should be able to help you, if not then your best bet would be to contact the theme developer or creator of the library to see if they can assist you with integrating Fotomoto.

    Kind regards,
    Derek

  • Hi Derek,

I'm fairly sure that the library is not JavaScript. I think it is powered by AJAX. Here is the link: http://blog.beautifulmindphotography....

The Buy Buttons don't appear on the Test Gallery photos, they only appear on the blog photos. The Test Gallery is where I want the buy buttons to appear. As I said previously, the gallery is switched on or off in the theme options under the overlay checkbox. When the checkbox is off, clicking on the thumbnail brings you to a separate page, not the AJAX overlay.

I have tried corresponding with the theme developer, but they said that they didn't know enough about fotomoto to help.

I appreciate you looking into this!

    Thanks again,
    Dave

    HI Dave,

I took a look at your AJAX test gallery and I don't see the Fotomoto Script installed on that page, so that's definitely at least one reason why you're not seeing Buy Buttons.

Please make sure you've got the Fotomoto plugin installed as explained here and once that's done, if you're missing Buy Buttons still, please see this article for potential reasons why.

The above should help you fix the situation here, but if not just post back or send us an email and we'll be glad to help you take a look at what's going on.

    Kind regards,
    Derek

  • Hi Derek,

I enabled the home page in the fotomoto settings in the wordpress dashboard and I now can see that fotomoto is installed on that page. I looked at the other reasons why I can't see the buy buttons, and all were ok except the 'go fotomoto mode'. I can't seem to find that setting in the fotomoto dashboard. The buy buttons are still not visible.

    Thanks again for your help,
    Dave

    Hi David,

Thanks - I can see the script is now loading in your page, but our Buy Buttons are not being displayed.

It looks like you're linking your image to some kind of (custom?) script at http://blog.beautifulmindphotography.... in order to show the large version of the image, but we can't really provide individual support for AJAX/JavaScript other than for the libraries we are known to work with. I think my best suggestion here would be to use one of the supported libraries instead of "AJAX" to show the large view of your image.

Alternately, you could contact the developer of the script you're using and see if they could assist you with integrating Fotomoto. They should feel free to email us if they have any questions about our service.

One last thing you might try is disabling JetPack to see if that's causing any issues, but the above is more likely the issue.

I hope that helps and kind regards,
    Derek
