I’m frustrated

Greed

Greed is a problem in this world. I like to think that we all can do our best and be rewarded for it but that doesn't always happen.

It seems that the crew at FotoMoto have been swayed by greed and are now trying to pinch the top and bottom of their market... The top will go to smugmug and the bottom will go away. This will leave FotoMoto with a piece of an ever shrinking pie. I will not recommend them to anybody and I will be actively look into other options for making sales.

Greed has ruined a perfectly good service. Greed is the problem.

On a side note... Will we still have to have FotoMoto branding on our products if we pay the 10$ or higher price? I really hope not.

  • I agree with this completely. In an industry where a good reputation is king, Fotomoto may not recover from what many are viewing as a betrayal.

    Robert and Patricia,

Let me say that I disagree. Our goal is to run a business that continues to give artists a way to sell image products. I'm sure you understand that this involves cost on our end to pay the staff that handles system development, support and more. Our revenue model has been that we only make money when our sellers make money.

As mentioned, those who sell products via Fotomoto have been covering our business costs for those who don't. The goal of the new pricing structure is to offer much the same level of service while giving a break to those who sell more.

As a perfect example, Patricia, you mentioned you had a big sale this month, and I explained in the other thread that when the new model is in place you would have paid *less* to Fotomoto under the Pro Plus plan.

For those who don't sell much (or anything) we still offer the same great support and product and still don't make any money until product is sold...we just make 15% more when something is sold, again to offset the costs of running a business.

I've seen a lot of frustration happening in the Community here, and I would simply suggest that you two and all other sellers first see how this model will affect their costs given an average monthly sales volume, then make a decision on what works best for your business. Negative comments only let us know that you're frustrated, but comments about how Fotomoto can work better for you are constructive and more appreciated.

Last, Robert, regarding your question about Fotomoto branding, I don't have any new information to answer you with yet, but we will be posting updates about the changes this week, and if you are still interested, I'll post an update with an answer here after next week.

    Kind regards,
    Derek

  • Given a day and a couple blog posts by your team I have chilled a bit... Sorry about that first post but it was the two week notice that really got me going. Anyway, your service is great, I doubt I'll move on to something else. I am excited about self producing prints.

Thank you for the more chilled response Robert =), and we value the continued support from you and the rest of our sellers.

Of course change can be jolting at times, but there are indeed some good things coming (like self-fulfilment, no waiting period, and for Pro/Pro Plus members "light customization" of the Widget).

Hopefully you'll find that at the end of the day Fotomoto is still a great (maybe even better) solution to help you sell your work from your own website.

    Kind regards,
    Derek
