http vs. https

Hi, free user here, been testing and preparing for launch for a while.
Great work everyone!
Everything worked GREAT on Joomla 2.5, but now i finally switched entire site from http to https - and lost all buy buttons. Should I delete Fotomoto account to create new site with https:// - or upgrade and just add that s, or is there an easier solution? Searching support for SSL does not show much

  • I have just sent you an email, then looked at the site again, and realized it was Firefox blocking insecure content on my site.
After allowing for HTTP, Fotomoto buy buttons appeared again.

  • The thing is, I simply cannot ask my visitors to "allow for unsecure content" if I expect them to spend any money for my work....
I must include both, Fotomoto buttons, as well as SSL Certificate - for the safety and security of my visitors. Any suggestions?

    Hi Bolevox,

Thanks for bringing up an important point. Sellers have two options for payment accounts - PayPal and Stripe. If the seller chooses PayPal, customers are re-directed to secure pages on PayPal to enter the payment information. If they're using Stripe, they either have a secured connection in the shopping cart Widget or they have an option to go to a secured page where the payment info is entered. You should not need to do anything special on your page.

If you have any other questions about this please don't hesitate to send us an email.

I hope that helps and kind regards,
    Derek

  • I'm having the same issue. I'm running wordpress with the fotomoto plugin. Everything was working fine with fotomoto with a non-SSL site (i.e. HTTP), but when I switched to forcing all content on the site to SSL/HTTPS the fotomoto buy buttons disappear from under the images (yes I added the https URL under the fotomoto account settings) -- turns out the web browser is blocking insecure content from fotomoto (is this from fotomoto's domain or from the plugin ???). If I tell my web browser to accept unsecure-content/mixed-content web pages then the buttons reappear. (I understand that the fotomoto purchase pages are secure, but the buy buttons associated with images apparently don't have an option of being delivered &/or generated securely, which will cause them to be blocked by a web browser unless the customer makes an exception for unsecured content)

    How can this be rectified?

I will disable my site's forced SSL page delivery for now, so that the fotomoto buy buttons are available, but I would really prefer to deliver my entire site in a secure fashion. There are a variety of evolving security reasons to do this (even for non-sensive content), plus Google and other search engines are now starting to include this in their page-ranking algorithms, so there are important commercial/marketing considerations here as well.

      Hi Adlibitur.net,

Thanks for your post. Fotomoto now works with HTTP and HTTPS sites - if it's not working for you, please try re-copying the Fotomoto Script from your Dashboard, as you may be using an older script.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, please do email us and make sure to include the URL for your site that we can review to see the issue.

      Thanks and kind regards,
      Derek
