I’m undecided

I have a Wordpress site and I don't think my methodology works with your software

Almost all of my images are displayed as thumbnails where they ope in lightbox plus. On the few pictures that I have them set as medium the buy, cards, and ecard shows up but it unformats the picture where the text goes from wrapped around the image to below it.
My site is www.jeff-foliage.com and a good example is http://jeff-foliage.com/2011/10/26/la... where I have several shots at the medium format.
On this one the formatting doesn't seem to be off terribly but I won't want to leave it that way.

The way I would want the buy option to show up is when the lightbox opens up and then along the bottom the option to buy or send an ecard is available.
Next I have three galleries of fall images and to get them to line up I use the WP gallery feature and of course these are thumbnails so the options don't show up anywhere. and this is where I need them to show up...

Let me know what is working for others but I won't be changing my site to just show pictures to sell them. People come to my site for information 50K between Sept and Oct and I want the option there in the background and not in their face.

Also I assume I need to locate all these images and then prepare them for printing and I would send those to you to print and send to the customer....

Ok I guess that is it for now...

  • Hi Jeff,

I took a look at your site and can see the issue you're describing. You should be able to accomplish your goal of having the Buy Buttons appear within the lightbox and not on the smaller versions of your images - this is typically how Fotomoto works with lightbox-style galleries.

Which version of Lightbox Plus are you using? Note that we only support up to version 1.3.1,, which is somewhat dated now.

What I'd suggest here is trying a different lightbox plugin. Shadowbox.js is one that I like personally and there are WordPress plugins for it that should work (though not tested yet).

I hope that helps and kind regards,
    Derek

  • I just installed shadowbox JS Version 3.0.3.8 and there doesn't seem to be any difference. I could deactivate and re-activate your plugin and maybe that will enable the hooks into shadow box.
Right now I don't want it to show in blog articles because it does throw off my formatting. I will only want it to show in the lightbox so it doesn't throw off formatting.

    Suggestions?

Also I have all my images watermarked on the site so I assume I would see the image with a purchase in my dashboard and I would have a request to upload a printable image so you could make your prints...

Do this come as a widget where I could create something like an advertisement in a side bar?

  • Hi Jeff,

Great - so I just changed some settings in your Dashboard and I think you should have what you're after now.

First I changed your Script Library setting to Shadowbox following the directions here.

Then I changed your "Minimum Width or Height for Images" setting to 315, following the directions here.

Now, as long as the smaller images on your page don't exceed 315px in height or length, you won't see the Buy Buttons on them, but you will see Buy Buttons in the Shadowbox.

As for your other question, I'm not quite sure what you mean about being able to "create something like an advertisement in a side bar", but your statement above that is true - we notify you when an order is placed and there we'll let you know if you need to upload high resolution files. Note you can use Auto Pickup to automate this.

I hope that all helps and kind regards,
    Derek

  • I’m happy
That looks much better so that now they might actually buy something... Have to massage those percentages.

The widget I speak of would be a javascript that I could load into the side bar and (thinking out loud here) there could be a rotating image slideshow that when clicked on the visitor could see a selected gallery of images to view and when they click an image to view it full size the option once again is there for them to make a purchase.

I wish I had found your site earlier this summer so that I could have taken advantage of the 50,000 views that I got during this fall season... Not a lot by some standards but pretty reasonable for my first year. Next year if I can get my ranking up in Google then I should be able to do even better...
Let's see if I can get a few sales for the holidays...

  • Hi Jeff,

Glad it's looking better to you now.

As for the widget you mention, we don't currently offer anything like that, but you could certainly add it as a function of your site, and Fotomoto should work within it as long as we're compatible with the gallery software (see here for a list of what works).

Best of luck with Holiday sales and kind regards,
    Derek
