Image URL White List

How do you use the Image URL Whitelist feature? I add a URL but nothing gets indexed after I do...

For instance, all the images I want to add are under www.mysite.com/gallery. When I add that as my Whitelist URL, nothing gets indexed.

    Hi ryans,

The use case for the White List is that if you only want to sell images from one page on your site, you add the URL for that page to the whitelist and our script should ignore images on any other pages in your site.

From what you've described it doesn't sound like you need the whitelist here - if you're trying to prevent buy buttons from showing under some of the images on your site, check out this article. If that's not what you're after, could you explain more about what you're trying to do?

    Thanks,
    Derek

  • Derek,

I see, that makes sense why it isn't working then. What I would like is to only have images beneath a given path "for sale." What I want is a way to only sell images beneath the "/gallery" folder on my website. I may add images to my blog that aren't for sale, and rather than have to "blacklist" each and every image I don't want to sell, I'd like to whitelist what I want to sell. Does that make sense? Is there an easy way to do this? I'm using WordPress with NextGEN/Lightbox if that makes a difference.

If this isn't available, one very powerful feature you could add would be the ability to use regular expressions to create a Include/Exclude list. Allow the user to choose a method, either "Index By Default" or "Don't Index by Default." Then allow them to add regular expressions to override the default.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Hi ryans,

Thanks for the details - I think what you want to do here is disable certain the Fotomoto plugin for certain categories in WordPress - you can do this in WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Fotomoto > Categories tab.

There are a few ways to accomplish this though, depending on what suits you best - you could also set a default Fotomoto Collection, which could be used to make any new image 'not for sale' and then you could manually select which ones you want to sell - see http://support.fotomoto.com/customer/...

    Hope that helps!
