Imported images have had their file names changed

Hi,

I'm using FotoMoto with LiveBooks and set up auto pick-up, with my high-res images on an ftp server. I tried placing a Download order and was told the auto pick-up didn't work because the high-res image could not be found. I finally looked at the image thumbnail in the Store and noticed that the original file name had been changed after it was imported from LiveBooks. I have no idea why this happened. This is why auto pick-up could not find the high-res image.

I thought that maybe LiveBooks was changing my file names when I uploaded to my site, but I've tested this and it looks like the file names are not being changed by LiveBooks. So I can only assume something is going wrong when my site's images are collected in the FotoMoto store.

Can anybody help me please?

Thank you.

Just to clarify, here is an example of how I name the files:

    - initial image uploaded to LiveBooks: D71_2428.JPG
    - high-res image uploaded to ftp site: D71_2428_high-res.JPG
    - FotoMoto look-up pattern: FILENAME_high-res.EXT

This should be working, but as I mentioned, when I click Info on an image in my FM Dashboard Store, the file name will have changed from D71_2428.JPG to 261_1D71_2428.JPG

I can't figure out why this name change is happening. I have no duplicate images floating around on either LiveBooks or FM, so that can't be the cause of the renaming.

    Anyway, I'm stuck.

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for your post, and sorry for any trouble you've gone through. liveBooks does rename the image files that you upload to them, and I'm not aware of any pattern that can be used to predict how the files might be named, so Auto Pickup is not compatible with liveBooks at this time.

I have spoken to their support team about this and they are aware of the issue. The last I heard they were working on a resolution for it. You might want to drop their support team a message about it. For now, the best I can suggest is to manually upload the images files needed to complete your orders.

Not the best news in the world I know, but I hope the information was useful nonetheless.

    Kind regards,
    Derek

  • Ok, thanks for clearing this up for me Derek.

Hard to believe that LiveBooks is so keen on integrating FM and then not having this straightened out. Strange.

    Thanks!

You're very welcome Peter - I'm glad to help.

There's a bit of history with the situation here - liveBooks used to own Fotomoto, and the integration happened quickly after we were acquired, but then all progress was halted prior to liveBooks changing hands.

Now we're owned by Bay Photo, and continuing a good relationship with liveBooks.

Implementing a resolution for the incompatibility between their file naming schema and our Auto Pickup system could potentially be a sizeable undertaking, so it may take some patience to use the two together. In the meantime again, I'd suggest just uploading the files manually.

I hope that helps and kind regards,
      Derek
