Invoices File-names

Invoices received do not currently state the file name when digital downloads are ordered. I note that a thumbnail is supposed to be on the invoice (but all I keep seeing is a missing file red-cross icon).

Rather than a thumbnail, it would be better if we received the actual file name - this would assist in immediately finding the files before we have to log onto to fotomoto to upload them (and also ensure we have the correct images).

    Stephen,

For the thumbnails, what's your email service / app? Are you sure your email application is not blocking image download? We can not reproduce this issue.

For file names, we have already changed the system to use the same file name that you use when you upload. Since our invoice is a general feature for everyone (with majority ordering prints), including the file name in the invoice is going to be confusing.

  • Outlook - and I receive images from all other emails without any problem, so there is something peculiar about the fotomoto emails.

However that aside, a file image is not suitable for identification when trying to identify one photo out of, as happened 2 weekends ago, nearly 2,900 images made available for purchase!

Similarly, if I were selling prints I would still want to know the image file name the client is buying - so to try saying it would be confusing is, IMHO, not true.

I realise you have changed the system to retain the original filename when uploading, but this happens AFTER I have had to log on to identify which images have been ordered - I can't simply make this identification solely from the email I receive.

Sorry - but I have to say that some of the negatives are now far outweighing the positives from using fotomoto. I know you are in a beta format, but I shouldn;t have to be double checking every order placed. In particular I have had my fisrt orders come back to bite me because international credit card charges are also being applied to the clients credit cards - this in addition to the 99c additional fee (which ISN'T very well mentioned on the site!) means that they are having to pay up to 15% MORE for images that the advertised price I charge. I am quite happy to pay a percentage for the service but these are additional hidden costs being passed on to the client and starting to damage my credibility.

    Stephen,

I am sorry to say this, we have been working on your requests specifically for the last few weeks, and have already implemented and delivered your request during the last couple of weeks. It seems that after all this effort you only have negative things to say about our service, and also saying we are not true in what we say. We may have different opinions, and I still don't know why a user who orders a print of a beautiful boat in a sunset to put on the wall would want to know the file name the photographer has used to store the file, but I do not appreciate you saying "to TRY to say it would be confusing in not true".

The nature of Beta means things are still being tested, and there might be bugs, or actually there are bugs, but they are manageable. There is no time limit in being in beta. Google GMail was in beta sine 2004 till 2009.

Like I said in my support email to you, for a $4AUD, 15% doesn't even cover the credit card charges, let alone all the service cost, and of course, this customer support cost. We have a policy that suits most of our users, and we can not change that for one or two users. We are constantly listening to our users and their requests, and if we see something is needed by a majority of them, we would be happy to change our policies.

This is not a sarcastic or impolite or sarcastic, but our service may not be the right service for your needs just yet. We definitely don't want to damage our users' credibility in any form.

    Best regards,

    --Ahmad
