API function to REMOVE a particular image from fotomoto?

is there an API to remove a particular image that is present in a collection on fotomoto.

in other words, i need an API that does the opposit of FOTOMOTO.API.checkinImage

i.e. if an image was previously added to a collection of fotomoto, i need to be able to remove it (using the API). i.e. the equivalent of clicking on the small trash icon on the image thumbnail in the fotomoto collection dashboard, to "remove from Fotomoto".

How can i do that with the API?

    Hi Tristan,

Thanks for the question. I'm sorry, but there is no remove from Collection function that's publicly available. I'm guessing you've seen this, but for anyone reading along, the available API functions are listed on the API Function Reference page.

    Kind regards,
    Derek

  • it is a really important API that should be added.

it would indirectly allow changing an image to another collection, something i often need to do, too, but that is not possible with the API.

so please, add this in the API wish list. it's probably quite easy to implement since the "remove from collection" function is already available in the web dashboard.

the problem with using the dashboard to remove a single image or change its collection is that it is very hard to locate a particular image in large collections that have hundreds of pages on the dashboard. i wish there was a way to sort to make locating an image easier. e.g. sort by date of last access, or sort by date of last ecard etc,

    Hi Tristan,

Thanks for your suggestion as always. I'll go ahead and change your post type to an "Idea" so that others can vote for the feature, which will help us gauge the level of interest.

    Best,
    Derek

    to sum it up:

right now, when i need to change the collection of a photo, i only have the following non-appealing choices:

    1) flush all the photos from fotomoto (takes a long time, and unnecessarily requires fotomoto to re-index my huge collection of photos). after doing that, try to re-insert the photo in its new collection. if it does not work, go through the photos that couldn't be flushed because they had been sold (there are only a limited number of those), locate the photo, and manually change its collection using the dashboard

    or

    2) go through my photos indexed on fotomoto (there are several thousands of them), locate the photo, and manually change its collection using the dashboard (or delete it and re-insert it in the right collection). i did that 2 days ago, it took me close to one hour for each photo.

if there was an easy way to locate a particular photo in a large collection (e.g. by sorting by most recent access), the problem would be alleviated, but it would still require manual intervention.

if there was an API to remove a photo from the index, it would solve the problem except in cases where the photo cannot be removed (in which case, the photo would be moved to the "removed" collection, instead of being completely removed from the index). in that case, manual intervention would be again necessary to change the photo to its new collection

if there was an API to change the collection of a photo (of if the FOTOMOTO.API.checkinImage was smart enough to change the collection if the photo was already indexed in a different collection), then the problem would be completely resolved.

so.... maybe the minimal work would be to slightly modify the behavior of FOTOMOTO.API.checkinImage so that, if the image is already checked-in in a different collection, it would be moved to the new collection (instead of the current behavior, which is to leave the photo where it is and callback the error handler).
