I’m Pretty bummed

Lightroom + TTG + fotomoto = WTF?!?

Using lightroom to create TurningGate galleries. Followed all the setup instructions, added domain names (including ip address names) and the buttons still refuse to work. They certainly show up on the gallery page but, upon hovering, just says "loading...". If I change the behavior to "open fotomoto on click", it reports a problem with the server.

I first asked the creator or TheTurningGate Galleries for help, and as helpful as he was, nothing is fixed. He did mention that he noticed, by my code of said page, that it is using frames. I looked at the same code and saw nothing that would indicate said "frames". I may just not know what to look for.

I also created just a standard, basic html image page, changed the options in the publishing platform (none) and Script libraries (none). Imported the code into the apropriate place in the html and still... nothing. Didn't even get buttons that time.

I cant help think there's some communication being blocked between my server and FotoMoto so it can't index the photos. No photos have ever shown up in my FM store since day one.

Help would be MUCHO appreciated!

PS.. the page in question is..
www.myliquidshadows.com/greatwhitetit...

I'm using IIS on a windows 7 box as my server.
PHP 5.4

  • Hi Rhett,

I took a look at your site and the first potential issue I see is that the gallery you linked us to here is using the numeric domain. Can we take a look at the same gallery on a www.myliquidshadows.com/greatwhitetit...?

    Thanks and kind regards,
    Derek

  • Looks like the gallery is no longer loading in a frame, as when I first looked at it. That's good. But Derek is probably right about the site being loaded as an IP address rather than a domain. The address I get when visiting your URL is 174.51.238.118/myliquidshadows/greatwhitetitr2012/. Once again, we're looking at a problem with your hosting.

The gallery otherwise appears to be in order, though I would encourage you to revisit your file naming. Nothing to do with Fotomoto functionality; it's just a good idea. Here's an article on the matter: http://wiki.theturninggate.net/doku.p...

weird, in regards to the frame problem, I didn't change anything in the gallery itself. I did, however, for a short period, have my domain name service (fx domains) masking my domain. perhaps, at that time it appeared to have frames. However, I turned off the masking because it was interfering with the webpage autosensing which type of gallery to serve. eg.. mobile or standard.

right now I have fx domains forwarding www.myliquidshadows.com to my home web server.. 174.51.238.118/Myliquidshadows

I guess I just don't understand why fotomoto can't see my numeric address as the location to index. I mean, what is the difference between my setup and say.. godaddy for instance? If I bought Myliquidshadows.com through them and hosted my site with them, wouldn't they just forward Myliquidshadows.com ultimately to an ip address on one of their servers?

I am, of course, open to suggestions as I very well may be wrong on this.

  • Hi Rhett,

Without going in to details here, I just want to confirm here that Fotomoto won't currently work using numeric IP addresses - a domain name is required.

We can't provide much in the way of server config advice here, but if you have any other Fotomoto-related questions we're glad to help, and as you can see, theturninggate offers great support as well (thanks for chiming in on the post here!)

    Kind regards,
    Derek
