Multilingual interfaces (for the plugin)
Most part of my visitors are French and do not speak English. It reduce drastically the number of customers as none English speakers are afraid in front of English interfaces requesting financial information.

Hi all,
Just an update here - it has obviously been quite some time since multi-language support was requested and we haven't implemented it yet.
Unfortunately as the company has grown so has our list of things to develop and our engineering team is just too small to handle all the feature requests we've gotten. I have no ETA on when we might release multi-language support, but it's not likely to be soon.
In the meantime, please do note that you can at least change the text for the Buy Buttons in to whatever language you like as explained under "How to change the Buy Button link text" in Customizing the Buy Buttons. The checkout process shown in the shopping cart Widget will still be in English though.
Sorry we don't have any new news to report, but we hope that Fotomoto in English will still meet (most of) your needs.
Kind regards,
Derek

I’m happy
Hello Benoit,
Yes, this is something we should have! But since we are still in Beta and are changing and moving things around, we will only have English at this point. Adding multilingual interface to our widget window (and not the control panel) would be a high priority as soon as we come out of Beta! -

Hi Ahmad ! I'm a new user of Fotomoto, (a french user too ;).)
One year after Benoit, do you know actually when beta phase will end ?
I'm using Imagevue (www.imagevuex.com), and it seems integration with fotomoto will be available soon. It would be great to have the plugin in french.
Thanks ;) -

Absolutely! My aim is to promote internationally. Having country 'flags' or at least a list, like Google Translation, that translate would be the perfect way to implement this idea.
-
-
I vote for the french version of the plugin interface! After the great job of the last weeks, is the beta almost finish?
-
-
Maybe language selection can be based on the users IP or perhaps browser language selection
-
-
I absolutely need french language to work with Fotomoto because all my clients are french and the interface is full of technical words not understandable especially for non photographers.
When are translated interfaces for ???
Thanks! -

Hi Thomas,
We understand how important translated versions of our widget and Dashboard are for our international customers, but we do not yet offer them and unfortunately I don't have an estimate on when we might have them available.
Kind regards,

Ok thanks. I'll try to find elsewhere what I need...
All the best,

When developing the multilingual features, it would be good if you could build it in such a way that any language could be potentially offered to the end user, as long as the person using the Fotomoto service is prepared to carry out the necessary translations.
I live in Estonia. Estonian is the national language here and has about a million speakers. Clearly a language such as this is never going to be top of your priorities to get translated. If the opportunity were offered to provide the translations myself, I would happily do it. There are probably many others users in a similar situation, and you might also be able to get major languages translated this way too. -

Hi Derek
How can you say this to us after 1 year
We understand how important translated versions of our widget and Dashboard are for our international customers, but we do not yet offer them and unfortunately I don't have an estimate on when we might have them available.
i find this in your backend:

so we can see that you are working with it
how can we help your company to make the options so that we can use your fine product all over the world, is it money for the extra option say so i think that there are a lot of us who wants to pay for it.
or is it something else.
a client of me is asking for the dutch option otherwise she kicks the email option out for now she wants to start with her site.
so i hope that you have a good option for us
thanks for your reading time

Hi milo,
Thanks for your comment here. Translation does require development effort on our part to implement, and though it is on our list of things to offer in the future, I can't say that it will be any time soon. We're working on a number of other exciting new features right now, so unfortunately I don't think it will be happening in the near future.
Kind regards,

I'd also like to have the possibility for Fotomoto to use different languages than English in anything user-visible. As far as the toolbar and checkout (and ideally, the widget) is concerned, I'd like to be able to configure the language to use per page, as opposed to it being a store configuration option or depending on the browser language. This is because I offer my visitors an explicit choice of language that takes them to a different page at an independent URL.
However, it would be completely fine with me to just get the possibility to customize the text at all (which exists today via the store settings) to be exposed through some kind of API that can be used from the page code, such as setting Javascript variables, data attributes on the custom toolbar div, anything. That would make it possible for me to feed strings in the language I need for the particular page, and the big issue of internationalisation needn't even be touched on the developers' side. -

Thanks for the feedback here thomas - our product team is watching all the "Idea" posts here in the Community, so we're listening!
We don't have any immediate plans to implement the changes you're talking about, but we are constantly working to improve Fotomoto, and we know internationalization is important to our sellers worldwide.
Kind regards,

Hi, i am waiting for internationalization since many years to become a Fotomoto customer. I also need a French interface for my clients.
It's been 3 years you say you know internationalization is important to your sellers worldwide... I think if you do not have a release date to give us now, that means you don't plan to provide another language than English unfortunately (for both you and us...) ;-( -
-

Now that you guys started engines again (after Bay Photo Lab came in), any plans to start working on translatable interfaces?
-
-
And when translating into Portuguese? Do not forget us, here beside spain :)
-
-
+1,
I'm French too and cannot understand why you're waiting that much to offer multilingle interfaces !!
This does not require such time, we've been asking for it for years now !
Please remember that NOT EVERYBODY is at ease with English language on planet earth !!! -
-
Hi Milo,
Thank you for the post, and the code you mention is for the "country" drop-down selector in the shopping cart Widget - unfortunately it's not used for translations.
I don't want to suggest that translating our service isn't important, but I want to set the right expectation in saying that we have very limited development time available and it's just not likely that we'll offer translations any time soon.
We truly appreciate the excitement about using Fotomoto in other languages and I wish i had a more encouraging answer for you, but I don't. I hope the update on the situation is helpful regardless.
Thanks again and kind regards,
Derek -

Hey, are you guys serious? Five years later and you still haven't implemented any languages???! It's really not that hard. Just focus on the big ones for now: Spanish, French, German.
C'mon Fotomoto, Derek, don't keep us waiting another five years. No more excuses. Just do it. Now. -
