Password protected galleries

I have a photographic studio shooting about 5 portraits a day, I'd like to create password protected galleries on my site from the originals and allow customers to view their photographs online. In the past I have used The Turning Gate plugin with LR 3 but my goodness the time it takes to create these galleries from raw files and upload to the web is enormous. Can anyone help my workflow here with any suggestions?

    Hi Pat,

I'd like to hear what other photographers suggest here, but let me offer some general comments that might help. First I'd suggest taking a look at your workflow start-to-finish and try automating as much of the manual work as possible. For example, you could save time by automatically loading your images straight from camera to computer via a wire or wireless. You can automate the publishing of a web gallery such that you just make your selections from a shoot, and batch publish them all to galleries.

Those are just two examples, but in general just do your best to automate the steps that take you time. Fotomoto helps by automatically making your images for sale and our Auto Pickup system makes it possible to eliminate multiple uploading steps, especially if you just batch upload the large print versions of your images to an online repository...maybe at the same time as you batch upload your client galleries.

I hope that helps and kind regards,
    Derek

    I'm

e.g. happy, confident, thankful, excited indifferent, undecided, unconcerned kidding, amused, unsure, silly sad, anxious, confused, frustrated

  • First of all I'm really interested in hearing from everyone else too and before I begin I do have a question...

Would fotomoto consider offering its services purely as a payment gateway? Giving away such a large chunk of profits when selling original file downloads especially when in the UK we have to pay 20% VAT on all sales its....well a bit of a pain. Its actually one of the biggest reasons I haven't integrated across more of the business.

Next up thats actually how our workflow is at the moment using Lightroom. I'd still like to consider whether or not there is a better option out there other than lightroom.

    Hi Pat,

Thanks for your question. At this time we don't offer a payment-gateway only solution.

As for workflow, another app you could look at is Photo Mechanic, and Fotomoto can be used in galleries exported using their HTML Export feature.

I hope that helps and kind regards,
    Derek
