I’m wondering ...

pics with multi-categories in wordpress

I have photos with many categories on wordpress. I have created a specific category "forSale". It seems, however then, when the picture is displayed, the fotomoto buying menu is ONLY displayed if ALL the categories for that particular photo are selected in the fotomoto listing (in the wordpress fotomoto settings). What am I missing here?

    Hi katapulse,

If a WordPress post or page is in a WP category that is disabled in WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Fotomoto > Categories, the buy buttons will not appear on the post/page.

You have a few options on how to include/exclude the buy buttons depending on how you want your site to work: you can enable/disable categories & pages in the WP plugin, or check out this article for how to exclude images via the Fotomoto Dashboard.

One last (exciting) thing is that we're very close to releasing our new Dashboard, which will give you even more flexibility in choosing which images you want to sell, so stay tuned for that!

    Kind regards,
    Derek

  • I’m confused ...
my photos are typically in 2 or 3 categories, some are active some are not. So if my pic in in the category HomepageDisplay, and in the Building and in the forSale, and only the forSale is active for fotomoto, then the picture page doesn't get the fotomoto menu. That's illogical because the forSale category is active and this picture is part of this category. See what i mean?

I totally see what you mean, and how that could be confusing. Let me try to clarify a bit here:

First, the enable/disable options in the Fotomoto plugin settings will control whether our script is loaded on individual pages and categories. As I mentioned, if a page/post is in a category that's disabled, no script will be loaded on the page. Controlling the presence of the buy links in this way doesn't give you much flexibility - it may easier to do in the Fotomoto Dashboard.

If you *really* want to control whether the buy buttons appear via the WordPress plugin, I'd suggest you create a new WP category called something like "Fotomoto disabled" and set the plugin so *only* that category is disabled, then put the pages/posts that you don't want sold in that category.

Even better though, in our new Dashboard you'll be able to easily control the availability (and price) of your images via Collections in your Dashboard - my guess is that this will be a much easier way for you to control how your images are sold, and this is coming very soon!

    Hope that helps,
    Derek
