I’m frustrated

Squarespace + Fotomoto

I would like to have my photos available for free download. So I tried to do this within my Squarespace site by adding a link to my images (which then open in a new window and can be saved). However, whenever I add a link to my images, I lose the fotomoto links below the pictures. I have asked Squarespace and they do not know how to fix it. I should be able to add a link/lightbox to my photos in the gallery and still be able to have fotomoto buy links below.

Here is what I'm talking about: http://www.kaitlinmcguffin.com/alabas...

See how on the ones that you can click and open, they lost their fotomoto link.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Hi Kaitlin,

    Thanks for the post.

Fotomoto can't be used to give away free downloads, though you can sell them via Fotomoto. What you'd probably need to do is link to the image file itself rather than to the image in lightbox view, but please understand that how to do this would be a question for Squarespace as it's outside the realm of the support we provide. Their support team is very responsive and hopefully they can help you to make things work the way you want them to.

Also note that Fotomoto wouldn't be shown if you're viewing the actual image in the browser - this is because Fotomoto needs to be running on a page where the image is shown. If it's just the image, there is no way we can 'inject' the Buy Buttons.

I hope that helps a bit and kind regards,
    Derek

  • Whenever I add anything to the image, whether it be an alt, any other code or a link, the fotomoto buttons underneath disappear. I tried linking to the image itself, the link is successful but I lose the fotomoto buttons completely.

      Hi Kaitlin,

I haven't seen that happen before - I'd like to test it. Could you let me know:

      a) Which template you're using
      b) Whether the image in question is on a Page or in a Gallery
      c) If b is a Page, which type of gallery you're using (slideshow, stacked, etc.)

Also, when you say "add anything" to an image, do you mean a title, description or what? Please let me know what you tried.

Last, as I mentioned above, if you visit the URL of an image in your browser, there is no way that Fotomoto can display Buy Buttons over it - we need a web page to stick the Buy Buttons in to.

      Thanks and kind regards,
      Derek

  • I'm using Flatiron, which is the template recommended by fotomoto. It's on a page in a grid gallery. If I try to edit an image by adding a click thru link or a description or any sort of code to the image itself, I lose all fotomoto buttons at the bottom of the thumbnail. I'm not trying to have buttons in the URL, I just want to have the fotomoto buttons on the bottom of the thumbnail in the gallery while still allowing the image to be clicked on in a new window.

    Thanks!

  • Also another thing to look into would be that whenever I try to edit the gallery in terms of allowing more padding space or having more thumbnails on one line, that also makes the fotomoto buttons disappear.
