Receive the following error, independent of time of day:
Unexpected error during synchronization: XmarksException [source: network, id: -61]: Server 503 and exception during backoff delay.
Amazingly, having just received the error under Windows XP - using alternatingly Xmarks for Firefox and Xmarks for IE, all auto-updated - the sync then does complete successfully under Windows Vista - again using Xmarks for IE and for Firefox. IE8 under XP, IE9 under Vista. Xmarks allowed under XP firewall.
This has been going on since January and February 2012, the aim is to merge the unique bookmarks and favorites on the old XP machine with what is already on the Vista machine, then retire the XP box. Hence repair will not do the trick.
Have run AM deadlink to check for dead links, it is able to read all links, and I have now removed all dead links.
Have also uninstalled Xmarks on XP in both IE and Firefox, re-booted, and re-installed; there are two baseline .json files, one dated 2009, the other dated early 2012 : should one remove all xmarks files from C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\profilename?

I have an IE problem, not a Mozilla firefox problem. I get the same message, though; Xmark on IE has not been able to update since installing, in January of 2012.
I have no premium account. Did you resolve the problem for dutch59?
