Frigidaire Affinity ATF7000EG0 door lock problems HELP!!!

  • Question
  • Updated 3 years ago
I have a Frigidaire Affinity ATF7000EG0 Front Laod Washer about 2 years old. The door lock light doesn't come on even though the door is closed and the washer won't start becasue of this. What do I do? is there a simple "will work till a service guy comes fix" Or should I just give up and buy a new washer? I thought front load washers were supposed to be better? I had my old top load for over 10 years? Please help or offer advice, besides have it serviced. Thank you

It's the door lock assembly. Mine will drain but not spin. I have a tech coming soon to fix it. I did a little research on other sites and found out that the Door Lock Assemblies on the Frigidaire front loaders break after a while and have to be replaced. It seems to be effecting all models of the Fridgidaire front loaders from what I read too. So for the time being I can wash my clothes but I have to put them through a couple extra rinses to flush out the detergent and then ring them by hand before putting them in the dryer. I figure by the time the tech gets here, finds my annalysis of the problem to be correct and gets the part, it will be about a month before it is fixed.

What I want to know is, if this is such a wide spread problem, which it is from the research I have done, why is frigidaire still pumping out machines with faulty or weak door lock assemblies and only allowing stronger ones for replacement?

This will be the third service call on my machine since I bought it in May of 2008. My machine is barely a year old. First call ended up being the pump. Apparently I can't wash blankets in my machine as the lint clogs up the pump, even though the manual said I could was blankets. The second call ended up being the control panel as my water wasn't getting warm like it was suppose to. I am really frustrated with this machine. This is the first Frigidaire I have ever bought, and most likely my last.

Well I right there with everyone else!! Except my washer barely drains and absolutly does NOT SPIN - However THIS IS THE 2ND TIME MINE HAS DONE THIS! Why did I spend the money of such a piece of CRAP!!!! I had my last washer for 18 years, I've hardly had this one maybe a year or so! I will NEVER by this brand again!!!!!!!!!! So I too will wait with loads of dirty laundry when I call my repair man for the 2nd time over the same problem!!!!
And I am frustrated as hell!!!!!!

Oh boy...my washer door will not lock today either. I've had it for not quite 7 years now. However, the first year was a nightmare. Service call after service call and basically their best advice about the extraordinary and loud noises was for me to "just deal with it". Really??? I'll probably be shopping for something new soon. $252 to repair the door lock assembly? That's robbery.

I am going through the same thing right now. The door is shut and locked tightly - yet the "Door Lock" light will not come on, thus the washing cycle will not start. My machine is only 2 years old. This is an obvious defect, and I'm pissed. I have had much cheaper machines last longer - the company is obviously aware of this problem, yet continues to sell it instead of issuing a recall. Hopefully others will research this washer before buying it - I wish I would've had that opportunity.

I agree, my washer is only 3 yrs old. I noticed in the past year the door doesn't shut and make a buzzing noise before it start sometime. Now the lock light doesn't turn on but the other lights turn on. There shoudl be a recall on this brand!

We are currently having the same problem. At first the door would not shut and lock. Now, I can get the door to latch now, but the machine will not work. I can turn the dial, the display panel lights up, but when I push the start button, the machine buzzes, then clicks and a pau massage is displayed. The machine will not start. The repairman was out today...going to cost us around 230 to repair. I am wondering if I want to bother. I will never buy another Frigidaire product, especially a front loader!

Does anyone know if there is going to be any recalls on these machines. Mine is a ltf7000ego affinity. I have had mine for 2 years and have had the control board replaced twice and now it will wash but won't spin. It seems to be pretty obvious that the door lock assembly is bad. I just can't believe that I spent that much money for something that performs so poorly. The money I am paying to repair this "energy efficient machine" is not very efficient for my wallet.

I purchased an Affinity Front loading washing machine on August, 2007. Recently, the "dr" code appeared when I was trying to do laundry.

I called an appliance repair company which has been in business for 28 years. The tech said I needed a new door lock. The part was ordered (at a cost of $200) and the tech came back and installed it. After 2 hrs. the same problem existed. The tech gave up and said a senior tech would have to come. Another 'senior tech' appeared 3 days later, spent over an hour and still couldn't eliminate the problem. This tech told me I needed yet another part (the latch on the door - a small piece of plastic). I foolishly thought that it was a minor thing but I then received a call asking for an okay to order that part for a cost of $69!!! I declined since I already had over $300 into a less than 2 yr. old machine between paying for labor and parts, plus the initial service call. My frustration with this machine is overwhelming. Whatever happened to 'user friendly'?

My family and I have been loyal customers to Frigidaire for generations. In fact, I just renovated my home with all Frigidaire appliances - washer, dryer, over-the stove microwave, dishwasher, etc.

You can imagaine my frustration after investing in a top of the line washing machine just over two years ago and now, I can't do laundry. This is very upsetting to me.

A washing machine should not have such a problem after such a short time. I have done some research and it seems like other people experienced the same problems as I did.

I did not purchase the extended warranty because Frigidaire appliances have always performed very well and for a long time. I had a bottom freezer frig for 18 years which I absolutely loved!

The machine hasn't been used very often because this we only spend part of the year here. It was used August 2007 for about a week and then wasn't used until February 2008-May 2009 with an average use of 2 loads per week.

I sent this information to Frigidaire and this is the response I got:

Added by Gail: Update. The Affinity never did get repaired. I now have a new top-loading machine that I'm super happy with. I did contact Electrolux via email several times and also called the toll free number several times (888-203-1389 - thanks Chris Polk). FINALLY got some joy after talking to numerous people. Frigidaire sent me a check for 70% of my cost for their front loader, which still left me in the hole after repairs and sales tax (about $400). Keep after them! Remember, the squeeky wheel gets the grease.

WOW! I wish I would have seen this before I bought our Frigidaire Affinity. We've had ours for 3 years and I've had the appliance repair guy here more times than I can count. I had my old washer for over 10 years and probably had the repair guy here twice. I WILL NEVER EVER EVER buy another frigidaire. I could have bought another washer with all the money I've dumped into this washer. It sounds like frigidaire needs to man up and recall the door latch. If they truly stand behind their products - they need to stand up!

Oops. My update disappeared (?). Anyhow, my Affinity never did get repaired after SIX visits. I emailed & called Electrolux NUMEROUS times (888-203-1389) and after constant frustration finally got a rebate for 70% of the original purchase price (thankfully I still had some of the original paperwork from the dealer). I now have a new top-loading machine; however, I'm still out the sales tax, 30% and the parts & labor charges (about $600 total). Keep after them - the squeeky wheel gets the grease!

I just talked to our appliance repairman. He told me that all parts have a 90 day warranty. Guess when we had the door latch replaced - 92 days ago. He's pretty sure that they won't honor the warranty. I'm having him fix it and figure that gives us 92 days to shop for another washer. What a waste!

Hi Kelly - I don't know what you're paying for each visit from a repairman but based on my experience I don't think you're going to make it for another 90 days. The lst door latch assembly lasted thru ONE wash cycle and they sent it back and got another one. The 2nd one never took care of the problem either. (At that time they also installed the little plastic thingie on the door.) Never worked. They tried several more times and then called & told me that I needed a harness assembly which would cost me ab out $300!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are throwing good money after bad!! My advice based on bitter experience is to keep after Electrolux/Frigidaire and then go out and buy another washing machine - NOT a front loader!! I looked in Consumers Report and bought a GE 8150. So far it's great. But cut your losses on the Frigidaire. It's a lost cause ... you could buy 3 washers by the time you get that lemon fixed and if you do manage to get it fixed then how long will the fix last?? Good Luck to you & Happy St. Pats!!
Hope you saw my prior comments.

Well damn! I'm waiting on the repair guy to come today for my front loader. Frigidaire should freaking' man up and have a recall on this product. The problem with this is that we needed the front loaders because we have limited space and both washer and dryer are stacked. We bought them around two years ago (a trend apparently), and now I have no clue what to do!

Wow, I'm surprised to see so many people having the same problem as myself. Here's my story.

My whole house is filled with Frigidaire appliances. About seven months ago my microwave started to go on the fritz. It ended up being the magnetron which would of cost about $300 to repair. I decided to purchase a new microwave instead.

About a month ago my dishwasher started having problems where it will not complete a wash. It will get about half way through and then it stops pushing water. You can here the motor running, but no water will come out. I have resorted to letting it run through half the cycle, stopping it for about 20 minutes, and then turning it to the rinse cycle to finish the cleaning. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I think it might be the water inlet value from the research I have done, but I have yet to fix it.

My most recent problem, as of yesterday, is my washer. I am getting a DR (E41) error code. This code led me to my latest search on how to fix the problem and this site about others having problems with their washer.

It's disheartening to see so many problems with so many of mine and other consumers Frigidaire products in what I think is a short amount of time for appliances. All of my Frigidaire appliances are only about 4 years old yet many of them are failing. Growing up my parents had the same Kenmore refrigerator for 27 years and we moved it between 3 houses. It was still running and never had a single problem when they finally sold that house and left it there.

I'm not sure if I will ever buy another Electrolux / Frigidaire product after so many problems and will most likely warn anyone else about all the issues that they seem to have. Hopefully the stove and fridge will hold up.

Here are the appliances I have:

Refrigerator: Model # FRS6RSESB4 / Manufactured - Mar 06
Stove: Model # Unknown / Manufactured - 06
Microwave #1: Model # FMV157GC / Manufactured - Jun 06
Microwave #2: Model # FMV152KS / Manufactured - Nov 09
Dishwasher: Model # FDB10S0RECO / Manufactured - 06
Washer: Model # GLTF2940ES3 / Manufactured - Jul 06
Dryer: Model # GLEQ2152ES0 / Manufactured - Apr 06

Well, you can add me to the list of unhappy-with-Frigidaire customers. Our door lock assembly broke - and I can't close the door and do the wash. The washer is only 2 years old. They seriously need to do a recall - this is ridiculous.

Well, I wish I had looked this site up with my first problem with this machine! I have the Affinity Front Load Washer MODEL #: ATF6700FS1... purchased March a year ago. The thing is a lemon. I have had the repairman out (4) times for noise. The motor has been replaced and now I have returned home after a week long family vacation to a machine that was fine when I left but somehow sitting alone I am having the (apparently) ever common door latch problem. Our authorized Frigidaire repairman cannot come for a week... it's my birthday today and I am in tears over this damn machine!!!!! The store I purchased all of my appliances from raved about this macine and I HATE IT!!!! Frigidaire / Electrolux should to recall this unit as a matter of good business.

I too have a Frigidaire front loader that is 7-8 yrs old.. We have paid for it twice going on three times. The latest development is no spinning, no agitating.. nothing. It fills and sits.. then drains somewhat. The door lock lights as locked, and is locked, everything looks normal.. but not. I am nearing the end of my rope with this washer and anything with the same label holds no appeal.
Is it the door lock? the seals? the board? the whole thing? I am happy to do the work myself, but the question remains ...What parts do I replace?
Thanks for the site and the input from all.

This is disturbing, we bought our Frigidaire front loader Model #ATF7000EG0 May of 2007. This is the first issue we have with this washer. It will wash the clothes and tumble a couple of times and then with 6 minutes left, it will stop and beep that it is done. I can hear it draining but NO spinning and the clothes are still soaked. My wife is having to ring out the clothes the best she can and dry them. Yes it seems there should be a recall on this model and similar model using this part.

Is this the best Electrolux can do?

Ditto!! The door latch is broken on my 2yr old Frigidaire Front Load Washer Affinity ATF 800 FS1.

This company is a disgrace for not issuing a recall. We should all contact the media to shed light on this disgraceful company and how they rip off consumers!
