Drag and drop crop not working for me

  • Problem
  • Updated 3 years ago
Hey, love the new theme version 2.0, can definitely tell you put major work into the rewrite. One issue I'm having though is the drag&drop crop feature isn't working for me, I've tried Chrome, Firefox and Safari. Could it be a plugin or something causing some issues?

What about it isn’t working? Does it not save? Do the image not move?
I’ll need more details to help you or at least a live link.

I can't click and drag. Instead of the drag pointer, I get the regular pointer. Dragging just moves the image as if I'm going to drag it to my desktop:

Interesting. Have you tried disabling your plugins?
Looks like none of the scripts are running on your site which means there may be a JS conflict somewhere. A live link would help a lot, but you can try upgrading to WordPress 3.2.1 if you haven’t already. Also try saving the Theme Options if you haven’t done that yet either.

Nope, about to start disabling them now. I'm running the latest WP version and I've already modified/saved some settings. Let me try disabling all plugins and enabling one at a time.

I can’t seem to replicate the issue on this end. In all of my browsers the JS seems fine. There’s has to be some kind of conflict there... in you’re screen shot, where you’re logged in, all of the edit/save/reset links are displayed at once — they should only show up when you rollover each image. Are the image rollover colors not working as well?

Try this:
Visit the site in Chrome and then left click on the background and click INSPECT ELEMENT. Then click on Scripts. Let me know what errors come up — if any.

Yeah, I noticed those edit links are always there, no matter what. When I do inspect on the background or image, I see the following in the console:

Viewport argument value "device-width;" for key "width" not recognized. Content ignored.

I don't see anything else, no errors in Firebug, and I have all the plugins off again.

Forgot to add, image roll over colors and title/excerpt flip are working fine

Yeah that’s the same error I’m seeing here but it has no effect on the site. In my browsers the JS is still fine. I’m not logged in to your site so I can’t test against the edit links.

Not sure why some of the JS is working while other parts aren’t. What happens when you click the Save button on any of the images?

If you don’t mind me logging in to check it out, email a login with Editor access and I can go take a look.

Just sent a registration to you, let me know if you get it. I checked the custom fields on my posts and don't see any of those fields mentioned in the video that hold the crop coordinates, could that maybe be doing something?

When I hit save, it doesn't do anything, just a # at the end of the URL like a blank hyperlink, same for reset.

Just logged in and checked this out. Everything works perfectly fine for me when I log in. Here’s a quick screencast: http://cl.ly/8Udn

It may just be some kind of isolated issue with you’re computer. I’m not sure how much I can help in that area, unfortunately.

I've tried on two different (Windows) machines other than my Mac, and a VM. Really weird, guess I'll keep debugging, thanks!

Actually, when I log in with your account, it works fine for me too. When I log in with my admin account it doesn't. Let me try creating another admin account and seeing what happens.

Okay, any new Administrator or Editor account I create can do it. But my main account can't....

O_o ideas?

Yeah, this is beyond weird: http://db.tt/WiLGOfB

I can live with creating a new account, and just use that from now on, as I assume this must be something with my WP install.

I have the exact same problem, and workaround. In original Admin account, everything apart from image-repositioning working fine.

Creating and logging in with a new admin account seems to work. How bizzare!

Alan, if you would like a log-in for my site for de-bug as well, I would be happy to provide you with one.

Yeah this is a weird on... I’d need to log in to your site with your admin account to really test the issue. If you’re ok with that, email the info to me. Thanks.

Hi All,
Version 2.0.2 is now available and it fixes this issue.

Simply re-download the theme using the same download link you received earlier which now gives you version 2.0.2.

Thanks.

Most likely this is a plugin in conflict. Try troubleshooting your plugins.

Well, it was nothing to do with plugins..had to delete and reinstall 2.0.2..now it works again!...but only if I have another window opened to my WP admin dashboard. It's strange, but it works for me!

on the Wordpress backend, go to Appearance, Theme Options, and hit Save Options. There are new settings with the new theme that need to get saved in the db.
