Hi, we're sorry, but currently we support only incredibar.
If you don't want it you can turn off search bar in options and use FireFox default search bar in the right top corner,

Just change function in js script in source of extenstion
in path for edit

/home/YOULOGIN/.mozilla/firefox/IDYOUPROFILE.default/extensions/pavel.sherbakov@gmail.com/chrome/content/include/speed_dial.js

for example change to yandex:

if( searchText ){
parent.document.location = "http://yandex.ru/yandsearch?text="+en...; }

In windows just search speed_dial.js in ProgramFiles/Firefox or User home folder...i think..

Hi.

I see.

It's possible that this feature (red rectangle) will be available again in future updates?

It's really nice.

Hi.

What? I don't understand. Maybe I did not explain well.

What I mean is:

Exactly as you see on the image. Similar to google (almost the same design):

If that is not possible anymore, well at least the option to select your search provider (bing, yahoo, google, incredibar, etc) will be nice too.

Thanks.

As i seen in the newer versions it is not more possible !
If you update this addon, you dont see anymor the links web, imageges ..... search in google ... !
All you see is one image like @Pavel has explained

One alternative is to add google search or igoogle dial, to your list of dials !
And when you want search images ... you click in the google search or igoogle dial, and you can do this ;.)

this is complete BS. to take away features in later versions. if you're trying to make money - a kickback from "my start/incredibar" then at last offer a fee/pro version to opt out. because this search engine stinks. and if you keep it, you will lose customers and market share.

and if nothing else - LABEL your search bar that looks like a google search bar.

guess I'm gonna be looking for a new add-on

You will lose users of your add-on for certain !
I lost two days searching around the web for advice how to remove MyStart-Incredibar from FVD search engine and from my PC. Excellent add-on ruined by malware, and you openly admitting that you did this, but without specific warning which cost me (and I can tell so many others) two days banging my head to find out what happened and how to repair it .
I will try to turn off search box from FVD, but if MyStart continue to pop up in Firefox, then back to original Speed Dial !

Take like me, create a dial to google search, in you main tag !
When you want search click in this dial created :-)

Another good ideia, is leave a group of tabs with only google search, other with social tabs and mails, other with work ... !
When you close and open firefox, your tabs is here like last time ;-)
This is very pratical in Firefox ... !

My concern is whos going to manup and claim responibility for the hijacking of toolbars on all major sites with the very unpopular MyStart by incredibar obviously its about greed unless the owner is deaf & dumb.

Yeah... why not make google the search engine by default? Looks like everyone would be happy
There are money involved I guess, no other explanation why such a nice addon keeps the weird search engine
Is there any way to change it (in settings, or registry, or maybe by modifying some text file from addon folder? Hey, programmers, help!)..

Sadly, quite a few free apps sneak dodgy search engines or toolbars into the install process, technically giving users a choice, but not actually telling users that unchecking the box will not affect the installation of their product. In other words, not only is it opt out (rather than opt in), but I know people (because I have spoken to them) who thought that they were leaving the box checked in order to install the target software.

In short...these are deliberate attempts to mislead and while many people are internet savvy, many more are not. I "repaired" one old lady's computer which had lost half of its browser real estate to unwanted toolbars!!

It is a wholly unethical and immoral way to behave. If you have to mislead a user in order to get your software installed on their machines, then you are installing malware. But of course, you know that if you default to not installing the crap, and ask the user instead, you know that the customer will more than likely say no thanks.

What you are saying is that you do not believe that your add on is worth paying for so that you have to resort to subterfuge to make money off it. Of course, you also aquire a not so good reputation at the same time.

In particular, incredibar is recognised as dodgy, unsafe, insecure....do you really want your product associated with a piece gutter coding?

Having removed the google lookalike search bar (more deceit), my speed dial page is unbalanced and uneasy on the eye. I like speed dial's functionality, but I don't like the now unbalanced back and I don't like the shady practices involved. I haven't quite decided to uninstall it, but I am close.

A constructive suggestion - have you thought about charging a nominal amount, as many developers do for smartphone apps, something silly like £1.86? I don't imagine that the development work in creating a Firefox add on is much greater, is it? (I am not a developer, so I don't know.)

Sorry for the rant, but it makes me cross that people think that it is OK to exploit the less internet savvy just because it makes a buck or two. Nowadays, I work with vulnerable people and I see this kind of exploitation all the time. And it is just plain wrong to derive a revenue this way.

I reported the deceptive search to Mozilla. Having the button say, "Search on Google", while actually using ereadingsource.com (something done by known malware, BTW) is concerning. I have no trust in this developer.

@Pavel Shcherbakov - you don't address the issue of deceit, which is plainly ongoing.

Not really expecting a reply...you didn't respond to my last post, either.

Shame on your company and on you for acting in support of its exploitative practices.

In newer versions of FVD Speed Dial, it seems that Google is the default search engine if you click the search button, but if you, like me, don't like the annoying Yahoo live search that also pops up while typing in the search box, go to:

"%appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[your_profile].default\extensions\pavel.sherbakov@gmail.com\chrome\content\include\sd"

and delete the file livesearch.js file & restart Firefox to get rid of the Yahoo live search.

=> After restart Firefox in FVD Speed Dial will be "the FVDSearch" search engine (original).

Then in FVD Speed Dial -> Global Options -> Appearance -> check "Disable Search" (see Manager Pavel Shcherbakov) and restart Firefox. DONE! :-)
