Have Fylde council removed a park bench from the end of Riley Avenue or has it been stolen? Has anyone got any idea whether I should or can report it as stolen if they haven't?

A bit more information - the metal plates which fastened the seat down are still on the pavement and sticking up. These plates could trip people up.

I would love to hear that the council are looking into this.

Hi Mr Teabags. Thanks for drawing our attention to the missing park bench, I'll look into this tomorrow for you and make sure an update is put onto the forum.

OOps, I am Caddi, and female. Thanks I will keep an eye open for the reply. I do hope that it has been removed to be replaced (it had some fire-damage) but I am very concerned that the seat has been stolen.

Hi Caddi. Well, so far my investigations seem to indicate the bench has, unfortunately, been stolen and we're sending some chaps down there to ensure the area is safe. Do you happen to recall seeing the bench there quite recently?

Hi Bill

Bryn (my husband) says it was there on Monday at about 6:00pm - he said he would have noticed if it was missing. We usually see it as we turn in towards it.

It is strange because it was fire damaged. Have others gone missing?

I see that the bench has now moved from outside 193 The Promenade where it was this morning. I don't know when they saw it on Clifton Drive South.

Is it being watched, as maybe the people who took it from Riley Avenue to the Promenade are the same people who moved it to Clifton Drive South?

Will it be returned to the bottom of Riley Avenue, do you know? I am everso fond of it being there!

Hi Caddi,

The original bench was not able to be returned due to the fire damage but we will be replacing the bench with a new one. This may take a few days as the bench has to be treated before being put in place for use but the new bench should be in position shortly.

Thank you as always for using the forum, I hope this information helps.

Hi Caddi,

A replacement bench is currently in the workshop and is being stained and varnished prior to going back on site.

I hope to have it back on site within the next 2 weeks.

Thanks

HI Ben,

Yes I saw it on my way home. Hubby also noticed it, and it was being sat on at the time.

Thank you very much!
