Great Britan missing form the list of countries

Neither England, Scotland, Wales are in your list of countries. I cannot find even Great Britan. What is the secret?

  • Hi Richard,

I'm guessing your referring to Dollar Street (www.dollarstreet.org)? If not, please let us know which of our websites your referring to.

In most of our websites, we show members of the United Nations. In this case of the countries England, Scotland and Wales, these all belong to the United Nations country "United Kingdom". Great Britain is the island containing England, Scotland and Wales and thus is not in our list but any statistics pertaining it are included in the United Kingdom.

Here you can see, for example, our Dollar Street households for the United Kingdom: https://www.gapminder.org/dollar-stre...

If you have any further questions, please let us know!

    Best regards,
    Jasper / Gapminder Foundation

  • England, Scotland and Wales are countries, the collective term you listed Richard is not, it is a territory. I agree that data for all three nations should listed individually with all three being significantly different nations and the gap in wealth being also significant. Parts of Wales are some of the poorest in western Europe with Wales being a much poorer country than England. Tackling this issue would show more accuracy.
