People Search Times Out - Can't Login

Apparently I have too many friends. I can't log in to my main account with Sparkle because the name search times out.

I should mention that I WAS able to login with an alt that doesn't have many friends, and even chatted with myself. Pretty cool app, and one I've been waiting for for a long time!

Now my alt can't login either. The exact error message is "Name lookup failed"

Hello, if the "Login failed" window comes up with this error message, that means there was some problem contacting the server. Name lookup failure could be just a temporary problem with the internet connection, or an incorrect login URL.

thanks, I have been able to login with my main account now. Maybe the connection or maybe SL being slow. Anyway, it's a great app and will be a tremendous help to keep in touch with SL while on the move.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. We are digging into this issue as we speak, and hope to have it resolved in the next update.

Could you tell me approximately how many friends you have? It will help us in reproducing the error.

My main account had over 300 friends before I pruned some after getting this error. Now there are about 210. My alt, with about 10 friends, logs in much faster. I have been able to log in with both accounts now, but also have had failures with each of them. In all cases, though, my main account takes a very long time to connect, several minutes.

Hi I have over a thousand friends and I rarely delete them from my lists I cant even begin to log into the sparkle it just spins and spins never logging in I have used ajaxlife and limitedly it seems to work this seems to not be a error on my part as I have deleted the app and tried it many different ways. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Hi, I think we've found the issue and we are sending it out to a couple testers right now to verify. If they say it works, then we will push this out to Apple for review ASAP. The update will be free of course, and probably show up in the app store within a week, this mainly depends on the time it takes Apple to approve the update.
