Admins: How to put Get Satisfaction on your site

The "Put Get Satisfaction on Your Site" page of the Admin section is where admins can find our nifty widgets. Currently, we have two widgets:

1. Topic Search Widget: Allows your users to search and get results for Satisfaction topics on your own website. They'll also be able to submit new topics! Once they click on a listed topic suggestion or hit the "Add details and submit" button they'll be taken to the corresponding page in your Satisfaction site.

2. Live Topic Widget: Put a list of Get Satisfaction topics from your Satisfaction site on your own website. Choose what kind of topics, how many, and more. It's like a dynamic FAQ. Once a user clicks on one of the topics they'll be taken to that topic page on your Satisfaction site.

To add either of these widgets click the "Customize it!" link. Then you'll be able to customize the parameters for the type of results you want displayed and see a handy in-line preview by clicking the "Preview" button. Once you've set the options the way you want them, copy out the Markup code and CSS code by clicking the corresponding "copy" buttons and pasting in the appropriate places in your site. You can customize the visual look of the widget to match your site by changing the CSS or changing the markup to call your own CSS code.

We also have a couple of badges you can use as links from your web site to your Get Satisfaction site.

And for the more ambitious among you, we now offer Help Center -- an open source PHP based template based off our API which allows you to install a customizable version of Get Satisfaction on your own site.

I would really, really love it if I could "set" which posts I want to appear in my active discussions widget. For example, we are a new start-up and would like to highlight certain topics such as "Getting Started," "Let us know what features you'd like to see," etc.

Maybe they could be topics we could "set" at the top (sticky type topics like on a forum) and in the drop down when you make the widget an option would be "featured topics."

Thanks!

Stephanie,

I would recommend that if you would like to highlight certain topics in getsatisfaction on your own site, simply use static html links to the appropriate topics.

URLs to our topics are durable, they do not change (outside of the 15 minute editing window).

Using static links would let you more easily blend the content with your own service (since you can choose your own markup) and would provide a more consistent visual experience.

This approach can then also be combined with a widget for dynamically changing lists also.

Stephanie,
As an additional point to Scott's last reply, you should be able to use a special tag and a widget directed at content with that tag to have a widget that will update with the latest topics of the kind you're describing.

For example, tag these topics "Zazengo FAQ" and make a special widget targeted to pull only topics with that tag.

Start here by claiming your company: http://getsatisfaction.com/represent_... and Eric will approve your claim request soon. After that, you'll be an admin for Mobog. If you're looking for the widgets, go to the Mobog company page and look for "Put a topic widget on your website" in the company header.

Hello Amy,

I a lost new subscriber. I'm trying to find where to copy and paste the code for the get satsifaction discussion widget for my site. I'm also trying to figure out what my twitter address is to let people know where to find me? Can you direct me? Please advise. Thanks! :_

fearlessparent: If you're an admin for your company, you should be able to get the widget. When you say Twitter address, do you mean the new Overheard feature on our site? Or, do you mean a Twitter account for you? Not sure, but I'm sure we can get it all figured out.

True. We recently added Help Center to that page. With the rapid iteration we do over here it's hard to keep these help topics up to date! Thanks for pointing this out to me.

One more: Downloading the badge was easy enough, so was posting it, however no where does it state where you would like us to link the badge to... homepage, sign-up page, etc.

I believe you're asking where to point your badge? It's probably best to point it to your company home page here on Get Satisfaction which would be http://getsatisfaction.com/yourcompany

Grrrrrr....something tells me its easier to sign up a company first, then sign up as a person. It must be. It HAS to be. Because once signed in as a person, with no ability to claim, you are pretty much "stuck."

Help?

bldtraffic: Sorry you're having problems.

We try to point out on the employee claim page that it might take a few hours for us to approve an employee's claim. It's usually faster if you are able to validate your employee e-mail address by entering a company e-mail address (from the company URL) into the company e-mail address field. I hope this doesn't seem inconvenient, but we like to diligent about this. I just approved your claim, and you should receive an e-mail that directs you to your admin page.

You can place badges or widgets anywhere on your site. It is often different, but many companies place those on their home page or support page. It really just depends.

We installed Help Center a few days ago and all was fine and today we could not submit a new discussion and instead submitted a company announcement on your website but it looks funny on ours... (missing image). Was there a software update? Did something change on your side?
i am quite annoyed and frustrated with actually doing anything with your service

teh link on previous said "GET YOUR WIDGETS"

do i get any widgets???

no, i get an endless and outdated discussion, and no visbible limnks to any widgets!!

you mention in first post about clicking on customise it ... bnut there is no customise it

if you have a link saying "get widgets" THEN THAT IS WHAT IT SHOULD DO.

instead you have wasted 30 min of my time for no result

this site increasingly seems like well intentioned amateurville

PS and as further indication, this whole window/frame won't scroll up!

regards

Do you have how to put the feedback and other code in php and not just basic html? Our site is all php pages and I do not want to have to just make a basic html page for the widget and would hat for it not to be able to be seen from our main page.
