Can only delete some products.

When I look at the list of products for my company, only some of them (not all of them) have a "delete" option. Unfortunately, a platform I used to develop quite a few of these products went under shortly after I listed them on Get Satisfaction, so I'd like to clear them away to avoid clutter. What do I need to do to make "delete" available for these others?

Yes, that's the page - I can only see the link on some of the products, not others.

Just to clarify as well, looking at other people's similar questions - the products lacking the option include - well, mostly are - products with no topics created in them, so it doesn't appear to be the presence of topics doing it.

Any more thoughts on this one? I'm finding myself reluctant to add new products needing support to the list until I can get this cleared up?

You're right Alistair - it has nothing to do with whether or not they have topics associated with them. I'm guessing it might be due to their age, or that we may have duplicates in the system. Can you tell me when those products were created? You should also create a new product, then see if the delete option comes up. If not I will have our dev team look at the code to see if anything on the back end can tip us off to what's causing the issue.

And I've gone ahead an deleted the topics for you.

I've created a new product now, for an upcoming app I've got in development, and the delete option shows up for it just fine, so that looks like it's happy now.

As for when - hm. Honestly, I'm not sure I can remember myself when they were created with any kind of accuracy. However, all of those were created at about the same time, if it helps any, and three of the products which I needed to retain also fall into the group with no delete option and were created at roughly the same time, if they might be able to tell you anything, at least the rough time of creation: 'PingHud', 'LibraryThing' and '"Library of Metaplace" Metaplace World'.

Do you think they were added around the beginning of the year? My suspicion is that our move over to Engine Yard may have something to do with it.

At any rate, I can have my dev team look at those products to find out for sure, but you should be good to create new products.

While not exactly certain, I'm fairly certain they would have been created before then (most of those products were built for the Metaplace platform, and since Metaplace closed down at the end of last year, it would have been before then that they were created).

Same-ish problem here... we created a product called "The Beat" a while ago, but now wish to delete it. I was able to RENAME it, but can't delete. I'd like to delete it because the url to it still contains the old product name (http://getsatisfaction.com/boldstreet....

The admin doesn't offer any way to delete; how should I proceed?

Hi Brad. "Free Wifi" is the only Product I see associated with Boldstreet Wireless. I can delete that product for you, just want to confirm that is what you'd like to have happen.

Yep, that's the one. It was originally named "The Beat", and if you look you can see that the old product name is still preserved in the URL to this product ("boldstreet_wireless_thebeat")

Hi Clint. The process for removing products is currently buggy - and we'll post in the community once this has been addressed. In the meantime, If you let me know which product you want deleted, I'm happy to take care of that for you.

I'm having this same problem for my company's products. I need "prioritz'd" deleted and cannot do it myself. This product no longer exists.

I have the same problem. I need "This ideas site" removed from my product list. I've removed all topics, but the Product Admin view still tells me there are 58 topics in it. I'm assuming it's these 58 invisible topics that keep me from deleting this? Please help.

Hi there,

I'm hoping you can help me remove a product from my company's pages that is no longer supported or distributed.

I am an Admin, but can only see the "Edit" links for our products. No "Delete." I understand this is a known issue for some accounts and that the deletion can be performed by the Get Satisfaction team.

Hey Jake. First off, thanks - that's really nice to hear. My understanding is that this bug affects products created before a certain date, roughly Jan 2010, and that products created since then should be unaffected, and able to be deleted by community administrators. However, I'm not sure if that's been confirmed with absolute certainty, and I'll have to check in with our engineers and get back to you about that. In the meantime, we understand that feeling of helplessness can be super frustrating, and we try to be as responsive as possible when people need products deleted.
