Custom Points Structure

I was told community owners have the ability to customize the points structure - i.e. which actions points get awarded for and how much per. Is this true, and if so, how can this be configured?

I've been sifting through the Analyze an Configure sections of the back-end, but don't see anything related to this.

Also - separate but related - we often see duplicate posts in our community. We believe this is related to the user hitting 'post'/send twice while their action is pending and the post/response ends up getting displayed twice in the thread. In these cases, do they earn twice the points? If the post is then deleted by an admin, do the points automatically readjust? Please advise.

Hi Ranjan,
As far as I know, there are no options for changing the points structure. It's the same for everyone on the GetSat platform.

Points are supposed to be subtracted for deleted posts and such and I believe that's the case. I haven't paid enough attention to it to be sure.

Thanks for the quick update.
If that's the case, is there an existing 'legend' or reference tool we can use to see exactly how points are calculated/awarded?

I don't believe there is customization either, unless it is new. I did ask the question when points were added and points are supposed to be removed on a delete post, but they are retained on archived posts. I have never confirmed removed points, but I archive many posts and have never seen a drop in points for that function.

Here's how the points are calculated and awarded.

You can get this with your own branding as well under About -> Learn More.

Hi Ranjan,

We don't allow for communities or users to customize the points system. As Drew pointed out, that list shows how the points are calculated and rewarded.

As also pointed out, when a post is removed, the points are also removed. So technically a double post doesn't increase their points since these are normally removed.

Thanks for confirming and for sharing the links.

Would you be able to elaborate on this point: "There are a maximum number of points you can earn for each of the above activities over different time periods." - what exactly does this mean and is there a way to see which points are limited and at what level?

I'm asking because we have a reward program linked to activity/points structure, and need to understand how this may impact overall standings.

To help prevent people from "gaming the system", we don't share that information publicly. But if you reach out to your Success Manager they can help you a bit more with this.

On the issue of duplicate posts, there is definitely a bug on the GetS site that has been raise here a few times. There is am ongoing thread on this...not at my computer to reference it.

Duplicate posts occur at random. Sometimes that are duplicate email notifications that get sent out WITHOUT duplicate posts occurring. In other words there is any combination of duplicate posts and/or notifications that are generated. To make things more confusing is that the link an email notification may work for one of the posts but not the other.

This has been reported for months but with no Update or resolution as yet.

YMMV

In this case, the behavior you describe matches up with a double post where one topic is removed after the email notifications are triggered by our system. If not removed quickly enough, both would trigger an email notification. Once removed, the link in the email for the topic that was removed would not work.

First the problem is that it is not the user that is double posting but GetSat. Second it more often is the case that second post is NOT being recorded but GetSat is still sending out a second notification. How do I know? I have spent an inordinate amont of time on here processing hundreds of posts in spans of a few hours at a time and I have caught some of these in action. Most often there is no user in interaction beyond the initial post.

I hope your statement is not intended as a denial that there is a problem in GetSat as I KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is.
