Community management is a really exciting field to be in these days! There's hundreds of companies out there looking to hire folks skilled in social media, customer engagement and the ability to facilitate a growing community. But how do you ensure your skills are up to snuff in order to get the leg up on your competition? The answer is certification!

Get Satisfaction offers a Community Management Certification Course that will get you certified to moderate and manage communities in just 5 weeks. The course is taught by industry veteran Robyn Tippins (@duzins). Robyn has an impressive resume behind her and has also published a book about online community management! She's worked with both large and small companies and is available to share her tips, tricks and knowledge in this class. In just 10 sessions, you will learn everything from the basics of moderating, to how to listen and respond on the social web, to analyzing and sharing reports with your team. You'll begin to understand the best practices of online communication and study real life examples of community successes and failures.

I was privileged enough to take this course a few months ago and now feel much more confident in my moderation capabilities. It's a great starter course for those new to the industry, or a refresher course for those who haven't been in the field awhile. Best part? Even though the course is sponsored by Get Satisfaction, it's not platform specific, so you'll be learning skills that you can take with you anywhere! Check out this page for more information. You can also post questions in our community or give us a shout on Twitter (@getsatisfaction). Class starts TODAY (May 29th) and we look forward to seeing you there!

I'm too late for this session, however, will there be another?

Hey Mary Jo!

All of the sessions are recorded, so if you're unable to attend one then you can always catch up. :) We're actually accepting registrations through Friday, so there's still time to sign up! I'll send you an email with information on how to register. Also, if this doesn't work out I'm sure that there will probably be another session, but I'm not sure when it'll start.

Hi Kristen!

The next course is still TBD but we're hoping to offer another session late January/early February. The price is $399 for the entire course. Caty got your email and will be reaching out to you when we finalize the date!

Thanks Stephanie! Planning on running by my manager. Typically these are how often and for how long? 6 classes, an hour a week, etc?

Hey Caty,

As we start Get Satisfaction, I want to make sure I am as prepared as possible and saw the certification. Is this something that needs to be done in real time, or can I do it at any time? Also, I see there is a promo code spot - do you have any active promo codes for it? I am referring to the Community Management Certification that is currently hosted here: https://getsatisfaction.com/corp/educ...

Thanks Caty!

Hey Bryan,

The course can be done at your own pace. We also just took a look at your account and will send you more details! :)

I just finished this certification and really enjoyed it! There was a ton of info about ways to prepare for abuse and negativity, some great documents that will really help our community, and good overall communication skills. Highly recommended!

P.S. I think your link is old - here is the link to the page on how to sign up: https://getsatisfaction.com/corp/education/community-management-certification/

Good point, Bryan! This topic is quite old, overall, so I'm going to fork your reply & then archive the older thread. That way we can have a new thread with up to date URLs. :) Thank you! Please reference the new topic here: I highly recommend the Community Management Certification Course!
