Offer Get Satisfaction in multiple languages

You might (or not) know that I've been doing quite a lot of thinking and research about multilingualism online (search for "multilingual" on my blog), and one thing I've been dreaming of is a truly multilingual support community.

Satisfaction strikes me as a great opportunity for this. There are quite a lot of strategic/technical issues I'm not going to detail here (yes, it's complicated), but I really think the web needs more spaces where "language management" is close to what it is in real people's lives -- not just a series of linguistic silos.

Customers are not all English-speaking -- and as most people are multilingual, it doesn't really make sense to break up the communities by language.

Hey, thanks for everyone's patience on this issue. To expand a bit on what Thor said, we put up a blog post, if you're interested. We also have some forms you can add yourself to if you want to help translate. Also, vote on the language you think we should tackle first: http://bit.ly/6VvlQD

We're still working on this - it's a BIG project, but it's being worked on.

I think you'll find a lot of helpful information in the blog post that explains a lot of the complexity involved in the process:

Thanks for everyone's patience.

since there's been activity on this topic lately, I'll give an update - this is definitely still something we're planning to do, although I don't have a firm date yet. When I do, I'll post another, more detailed update.

Thanks to everyone in the community for letting us know how important this is to you.

I know that there's a lot of people on this thread, and there's a lot of separate questions. We hear you, and respect that people want to know more about this whole rigamarole.

I've split this topic out into specific ideas, issues, and suggestions, in order to give people the most complete picture possible of the work we're doing on internationalization/localization. Here's the scoop.

Take this poll and let us know what languages you want us to support first.

Please see this topic if you're interested in volunteering or participating in the user-powered localization project.

Insights and updates on the technical process and progress is here.

Please see this topic if you've got specific atypographic entry issues in Cyrillic.

And feel free to start your own topic or suggest an idea in your own thread!

- Language support is available for all of our core products, including: web-based communities, mobile experience, Facebook application, and our Engage widgets.
