Offer Get Satisfaction in multiple languages

You might (or not) know that I've been doing quite a lot of thinking and research about multilingualism online (search for "multilingual" on my blog), and one thing I've been dreaming of is a truly multilingual support community.

Satisfaction strikes me as a great opportunity for this. There are quite a lot of strategic/technical issues I'm not going to detail here (yes, it's complicated), but I really think the web needs more spaces where "language management" is close to what it is in real people's lives -- not just a series of linguistic silos.

Customers are not all English-speaking -- and as most people are multilingual, it doesn't really make sense to break up the communities by language.

What about RTL (Right-To-Left) languages like Hebrew and Arabic? I'd be glad to offer translations for Hebrew.

Are there any plans to provide Japanese language support? If so, any idea when that will happen?

Why can't you just provide information, instead of collecting personal information?

Hi Bernard. Currently, this feature has to be turned on manually for you which is why we need to collect your info and contact you directly.

You no speak English? You pay more!

I can't believe that you're telling me I need the Contact ($99) or Enterprise ($599) plan to get a German/Italian/French/whatever interface.

So you are charging extra because my community's first language is not English? I have a hard time convincing myself this is not racist.

If I follow the thread correctly, this is because you had not thought about internationalization early enough in the project to make this painless for you. Most likely because your first language IS English.

Let me tell you something: Internationalization is not a feature you can ask money for, it's a basic feature you need to provide to get a significant amount of customers outside the US of A. It's just as basic as login, search, or billing.

I use your multiple language, but the widget is only available in english on my website and Facebook application. It's really bad to do not have the complete french version. If i want to have a french version, i need to have a french widget, it's normal to have a complete french version.

Hi Humeur. Apologies for the delay in responding to you!
Yes, it's true the Widgets are only available in English right now. This is our first release of Internationalization as we decided it was better to release what we could in stages rather than delaying the entire feature until it included all aspects. Widgets will be included in this eventually. I'm not sure of the exact timeline but that is definitely on the roadmap.
Will your platform be available in Danish anytime soon?

Hi Pernille. Apologies for the delayed response. I believe Danish is on the roadmap but I'm not sure about timing. I'll have someone get back to you about that.

Hi Pernille. What I've heard is that we plan to make improvements to the core Internationalization offering before adding additional languages. As you may have noticed from other replies here, the current offering does not yet apply to Widgets for example, so we have some work to do on pieces like that first. Adding additional languages does not yet have a timeline. Thanks so much for your interest in having it in Danish, though!

Hi GLP. You must be on the Connect Plan or up, which you are, and then let us know as it must be manually provisioned for you. This has now been enabled for you. You can select your language in the "Basic Information" section of your "Community Details" page in your Admin section. [getsatisfaction.com/bemyeye/admin/details] You must have Admin level Employee status to access this page. Let us know if you have any additional questions!

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you all know that we released language support for our Engage Widgets last week, so now all of our localized communities are able to use widgets on their websites! To learn more, check out this blog post from our Senior QA Manager, Stephen Lee.

Since this thread is pretty crazy, here's a recap on our language support offerings as of May 2013:

- Get Satisfaction offers support for 11 different languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, and Finnish

- Language support is available for all of our core products, including: web-based communities, mobile experience, Facebook application, and our Engage widgets.

- Language support is available for those customers on the Small Business plan and higher.

- More information about language support, including how to configure it, can be found in this Help Center article: Multiple Language Support

To get a demo please fill out this form and a member of our team will be in touch to discuss the details with you!

Enjoy!

That's a great idea! :) I'll be sure to let our product managers know of this request. It's probably not on our short term roadmap so I don't want to get your hopes up but we'll follow up on this thread when we have any updates. Thanks for your time!

Does anybody uses Getsat to support different languages in different communities webpages? Or do you centralize the muntilanguage community in one single webpage?

Best,
Nicole
