Hi Sherrie,

You can make a reply "sticky" but we don't currently have a mechanism for making a post sticky. If you're a company rep you can use the "Company Update" topic type to post that topic on your company home page which might partially solve the issue for you.

Can you describe your need a bit more?

I am a company rep in GS and we got this question from our users a couple of times. They see a post (be it a question or an idea shared), and they suggest to make the thread/post sticky. And I just wanted to see if there is a way in GS to do so.

Thanks for your reply. I will look into your suggestion.

Hi, this would be a super helpful tool to have on hand for company updates. Would love to hear if there is a plan to implement in the future.

I've shared this with the product team - I'm working on pulling together a community-manager focused release to help get some of these ideas and bugs all bundled together for maximum awesomeness. Stay tuned. ;)

we're getting closer, but it's a tough change! I'll update over here once we've rolled it out.

Ahhhh. We need sticky posts/topics like yesterday. C'mon gang. Its been a year since this appears to have first been requested.

Josh - It's in alpha testing at the moment. Once the kinks are polished out we'll release this feature.
I'm with Josh. Sticky's are desperately needed on certain GetSat sites!

Hopefully the "kinks" don't take another year to work out!

I do think there is room for a "sticky" if we just arrange things a little and have them on the left side bar or the right side bar maybe in a smaller text.
FAQ would be ideal.
I did a very quick and rough example here but you get my drift lol

I seems to me that a large percentage of the threads pertaining to Facebook are people with the same problem. They feel they have had their account mistakenly disabled and can't figure out to contact any sort of customer service.I think it would be helpful to the Facebook community if you had a topic stickied at the top of the forum reserved for Facebook contact information .Kinda like I did here but with less ridiculous spelling and grammar.

In fact you can copy the whole post and put your name on it for seven bucks.

I'd really like the capability, as an admin, to "sticky" a subject so it either sits on the side bar of the hub or appears at the top of all feeds regardless of stars or votes up. It would really come in handy when I have an important subject that I need all users to see/address.

Absolutely, currently I'm trying to "sticky" a post about abusive language and behaviour etc.

Another related issue is once I write an 'announcement' I don't necessarily want folk commenting on it. I just had to remove a content from my "attacks on staff will not be tolerated" post because it dilluted and redirected the content of the post.

Sticky posts and closed threads please :-)

I am in the EXACT same boat. I want to post guidelines and basically just have the ability to keep important info at the top of our page.

I'd like to be able to set a community update to be the 'rules' or 'guidelines' topic for people posting things. An example of this would be for [this], as it is only linked on the right side of the main page of Mojang. I would much rather it be linked on every single page, and at the top somewhere(under the company logo, or above the search).

Hejhej!

Is it possible to pin a certain topic, info page or similar to the top of the topic list? Maybe globally, maybe seperately for problem, idea, question, etc. That way, new users could be better directed to the search function, how to avoid common errors when posting on GS etc. If there is no such function yet, please consider this as an idea/feature request.

How can you anchor a question so that it always shows up first on the list under FAQ's? In other words, any way to override the ranking based on quantity?

any news on this? I find it crazy that a forum such as this can't offer "sticky" topics, it's a general necessity for many forums.

So there is a way to "hack" some sticky topics right now. We currently do it in our community as does Posit Science. You can use the "Additional Support Links" area in the right column to link directly to specific topics in your community that you want to draw visitors' attention to.

If you go to our Community home page, you'll notice a couple of links in our right column that do this. "Video Tutorials" links to our product "Video Tutorials" which is associated with a bunch of topics that each host a video tutorial, screencast, demo, etc. And "Community FAQs" links to a product we created called "FAQs" which has been associated with a selection of FAQ topics.

If you visit the Posit Science community, you'll notice that several of their Additional Support Links go to specific topics or categories of topics based on a tag. For example, click on "Switch Computer / Multiple Computers".

The way you achieve this is by being an Admin in your community and going into your Admin section. Click on "Company Details" and then on "Support Links". In the "Add more links" drop-down, select "Other" and then give the link the title you want and paste the appropriate URL in.

I hope that helps fill the need a bit in the meantime!

Amy, I access a community's topic list instead of its "home page". Official reps should be able to promote certain Update topics to become sticky (until demoted) in their community's topics list.

This lack of tooling to manage important memes is probably going to drive us off of GS... =(

Additional Support Links just doesn't cut it.

Additional support links are fine and well, but having some space above the section where people type in new topics, is crucial. Sticky topics or just custom text would help so much in reducing duplicate topics. Half of my work on GetSat is simply to moderate similar topics, merge, cross-link. I have the feeling that GetSat makes it easier for people to post a new topic, than to search for existing content.

Bottom line: please, please offer at least the option to glue topics to the top of the list soon.

Any idea when the sticky posts that were in "alpha testing" a year ago will be released?

We need them soooo badly. We have such a large community and so many duplicate threads. If only we had the ability to put the currently unfixed issues at the top of the list, that would be soooo great.

Thank you!

Frankly, the ability to make a sticky topic is a feature in even the most basic of community forums. I'm shocked a service that has as many amazing features as GetSatisfactions wouldn't offer this.

FYI the design of the Additional Support Links does not make the links stand out enough/draw the eye to them to make them work as effectively as they could (particularly if they are going to be a workaround for Sticky Topics.)
Pretty much all the users in the community I'm a moderator on miss the Additional Support Links section altogether.
There is at least 1 new thread every day that would be solved/answered if we were able to sticky a topic, instead of having to rely on a list of links on the side of the page.
This feature is a must, and I'm just as surprised as everybody else that this feature isn't implemented here.

We're starting to get this problem too. Time spent replying to support requests that could have been sorted out by being visible as a sticky is starting to get a little frustrating.
