Is there a way to remove or edit sentiment on a post?  Use case: user writing their own sentiment, with curse words.

Hi Kathryn,

There isn't currently a way to edit the sentiment of a post. Does your community have private posts enabled? My suggestion would be to make the post private so that others customers cannot see this issue. If you don't have this feature enabled, please let me know if you would like it turned on for your community.

I am also going to bring this up at our next ideas meeting because I can see the need to be able to at least hide sentiment.

I second this one... it's a lingering concern I've had that fortunately hasn't become a problem.

EDIT:  Meant to post this as a reply, not a comment. Thankfully there's a facility to fix that :)

Thanks, Tashina--does enabling the private post option also enable it for all users?  I've left this option off because our users would tend to think of that as a way to get one on one support, when I'd prefer things to be in the public community to help others.

It does - fortunately, you can make a post public again now.  I had to have it disabled in our community until the "make public" function was added because users were checking it unnecessarily.

Hi Kathryn,

I typically don't remove curse words to make it look better. My posting guidelines specify those posts will be removed and assistance will be slower. It begins to educate people as to what they can and can't do. Too many curses and I will suspend their posting rights. I keep in touch with them via email. This is a reason I have asked here to allow suspended people to post only private conversations, so I can handle it all via community.

I think it would be nice if the functionality was there, but I don't think I would use it for this case. Simply removing their curses will not teach them to behave in a professional and productive manner, so I remove it and advise them why and ask them to post a new question conforming to the guidelines.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Drew--I'm trying to deal with this user's questions in the community; his initial post was removed because it was just a tirade.  We suggested he post again with his specific question, so we could help him.  He posted again, with a specific question, and an off-topic stream wondering why his post was removed.  I removed that last part, because some of our Champions were trying to help him at this point, and I didn't want to remove their replies as well.

So, all of this could be avoided if I could remove the word "p*ssed" from his sentiment--of course, if he posts again as he has been, there will likely be a suspension.

I do, however, like the specific callout that abusive posts will be removed and therefore receive a slower response--I think I might add that ;)

It is a balancing act, and I understand the Champion thing. For our community, my champions have see how I handle things for a while now and before they help really angry people, they now often warn the person to behave before offering assistance. It is very calming, and very little swearing goes on any longer.

I guess I'm glad our angry customers end up calling us so I don't have to deal with it ;-)

Bump...
I've got one that I'd like to clean up, but can't.
