Terrible penalty paid for handcrafting bad HTML

As an iPad user, I have to handcraft any HTML I want to use, as you still don't offer a WYSIWYG editor for me.

Sometimes, there is a terrible penalty to be paid, usually for using an < in place of an >, as here:-

Sorry Visionman; while I realise that no-one but YouView themselves can answer as to why< it works this way, I did not mean to exclude you as a source of well, at least confirmation or otherwise that this feature operates as Rockpoolie describes.

which, rather infuriatingly, works like I think it should when I try to reproduce the issue with cut and paste, , but truncated the whole posting down to almost nothing when I did it for real.

To get it back, all I could do was left arrow back to the composed posting, greyed and with the spinner still spinning, screen capture it with the iPad facilities, and post it as here:-

https://community.youview.com/youview...

Though I did subsequently manage to OCR it with Microsoft Office Lens, fix it up in Word, mostly just for where the spinner was, and post it whole and conventionally a little lower down.

Bit of a rigmarole though; and I am wondering how come the software can't do, on first encountering such an issue, what it clearly can do when, as above, I try to reproduce the issue?

Here I am repeat with the HTML error in.

Here I am trying< It, typing this test to show you the whole of a sentence, which I will now repeat with the HTML error in.

In the above, the two sentences are the same, except that only 'trying' and 'repeat' are emboldened in each, the first sentence being formed with correct HTML, and the second with a deliberately wrong </b< at the end of 'trying'.

That's quite a mess the parser made of it :-(

Bump - nobody took any notice of this :-(
