Unable to remove a topic manually or in Management View that has no subject line or text in the body of the message

This conversation is no longer open for comments or replies and is no longer visible to community members. The community moderator provided the following reason for archiving: Issue is 2+ years old. If it's still an issue it is not likely that we will fix it in the current version of our app. We will be making improvements across the board in the new version. Thanks for your patience!

I've notice several comments that have been entirely blank over the last couple of months I've been unable to remove them and always recieve a red X error. Now, we've had a topic created with no Subject Line at all. I would really like to have this removed and find out if there is anything that can be done. I of course have made sure to put a reason for the removal, but as you'll see from the screen shot below, it doesn't matter.

EDIT: Here is a screen shot of what the topic in question looks like in topic view. As you can see as well, nothing is there for a subject just like in Management view.

Hey Bethany!

Well, that is something else. We actually haven't seen this before and are looking into it right now. Do you happen to have links to the blank comments? That would help us troubleshoot. Thanks!

That's just it, we can't link to this current one, or even click on it. It's really bizarre. The previous comments were in other topics that had already been created and have since been archived.

I was just wondering if there was anything that I could do, or that you could do on your end to resolve the issue going forward. That, and I would also like this "King Of Pop" topic removed.

I can provide you with a link to the topic section of our community and you can see it for yourself there if you like? https://getsatisfaction.com/beeline_g...

Is there any update on what you've been able to find out?

Hi there, sorry we don't have an update quite yet. :( We're still looking into the issue on our end and are going to try to delete the King of Pop topic for you too. I'll update you just as soon as I know more.

Thank you for the update. Not to derail this topic, but I have a couple other questions as well.

Has any progress been made on increasing the truncation limit on topics exceeding 250 comments? (I'm aware of the topic on this subject but it's several years old.)

Has any progress been made on allowing the ability to merge/move individual comments from an existing topic to another topic? (Again, aware of the topic on this subject with no similar progress.)

Has any progress been made on merging topic comments in addition to original post in a topic? (Again, aware of the existing topic on this subject but just seeing if it is even being seriously considered.)

Lastly, can the Business owner Admin request a title change under their avatar/icon from Employee to something else if they so choose to?

Thank you Caty.

Hey there -

I was able to delete the King of Pop topic for you. It's kind of a long story, but if you see anything like this again in the future, please send it over. We're still not sure why the user was able to submit a blank topic. We've been unsuccessful in trying to reproduce this, and our team is going to continue looking into it. (If you do see blank comments on topic threads, please send us over the URL to those as well.) You can create another question in the community, or email me directly if you like: ckobe@getsatisfaction.com.

As for your first 3 questions, I hate to say it, but I have no idea. I'm fairly new to GS and I know that our product and engineering teams are very aware of these issues/ features, but I'm not sure what the timeline looks like. I'll do some investigating for you and see what information I can find out, but I won't be able to get back to you today.

For your last question -- You actually have to have full customization on your plan before you can changes the Badges that go on avatars. The workaround would be for the person to update their "Public Title" located in the user's profile information. Let me know if you need help with that.

Thanks!
Caty

Thank you so much for taking care of the blank topic. I will report any future ones that I come across. Hopefully, the team can find out how these are being done and or why and prevent it from happening in the future.

I would love it if you could please look into the three other issues and find out any updates that you can. These three are very important issues that we would like to know Get Satisfaction's plans for as it could possibly affect the continued use of the product.

As for the last issue, I don't know what plan the company is on currently, but if you could please give me any and all information on what the business owners need to do to create custom titles, I would very much appreciate it. I have been doing their moderation now since last summer. Although I am not an employee, we would like to have it so I can have employee level control without being designated and identified to the public as an employee. (I hope this makes sense). So again, any and all info you can provide that I can pass along as far as what we need to do would be extremely helpful. Thank you

Caty, I was wondering if you had a chance to get that information for me so that I can pass it along to the company?

Hi! Sorry, I was out of town all weekend... I thought I sent you an email right before I left on Friday? Did you not get it? Lemme check my folders and see if for some reason it got caught in my outbox. Sorry!

Oh ok! I saw the time stamp said 2 days ago, but I wasn't sure if it was before or after I had left the office. Haha, anyways, glad you got it! Let me know if you need anything else!

Actually.. I will here in a couple of hours.. I need some things moved on our forum again. Would you prefer me to just email you with the requests?

Either works! If you post it in the community then one of my coworkers may be able to get to it before me, but you can always just send an email.
