64 Bit IE9 Hanging and Ghostery 2.5.2.0 will not uninstall
I am running Windows 7 64bit and IE9. I can not remember what route I took to obtain Ghostery but I did an installed it. Afterwards (but necessarily because of) I experienced serious IE hanging/freezing. I do not experience this with Firefox(without Ghostery). I tried uninstalling Ghostery but it will not uninstall. I get the message "C:\Program Files (x86)\GhosteryIEplugin\unins000.msg" is missing. Please correct the problem or obtain a new copy of the program. I tried obtaining a new copy from your webs site but it will not allow me to download it. Further more W7 Uninstall or Change Program advises I have Product Version 2.5.2.0 where as your web site says the latest is 2.4.2.0. Please help - Peter

Greetings
Thanks for using Ghostery!
So just to confirm... If you follow these directions you are still unable to uninstall?
1. Go to “Control Panel”
2. Select “Programs”
3. Select “Uninstall a Program”
4. Select Ghostery -

I have some input from our dev team about your issue..
"hes getting this message because the uninstall has already ran but was broken in the middle. Best to do at this point is to start in safe mode and remove any remnants left in the install dir: C:\Program Files (x86)\GhosteryIEplugin\ "
let me know if you are able to follow this... -

Hi, that worked. It still left the icon in "Programs and Features", but when I tried uninstall, it was identified as an orphan icon and offed to delete it.
I guess what caused this was trying to remove multiple programs without a restart inbetween.
Thanks for the help. -
