"Block new elements by default" doesn't work for me. :(
I'm using Opera 12.12 on Windows 8.

Hi Hanrek,
Could you describe the problem in more detail please? -
-
Auto-updating works. When I then look at the blocking options, I'm not blocking all trackers anymore. There are some unchecked trackers. I guess that these are new trackers which weren't blocked by default.

Is "Block new elements by default" checked? This setting can be found under the Advanced tab on Ghostery's options page.

Same thing for me in Firefox, my default browser (currently 18.0.1, but the problem's been around for longer than that). I have Advanced -> Block New Elements by Default and General -> Enable library auto update both set, but sometimes when I go to various web pages, an unblocked entry will show up, along with the entries shown as being blocked. I then go to General -> 3pes -> Select All and Save, and then refresh the browser page, and the formerly unblocked entry will be blocked. So, auto-updating isn't working reliably for me, and hasn't been for months, or maybe a year.

This is a great conversation that's separate from the main topic, so I created a new topic to continue the discussion. Please reference the new topic here: Block by default doesn't work in Firefox

Sorry if it seems that I keep asking obvious things, but, to recap:
1. "Block new elements by default" is checked (under the Advanced tab on Ghostery's options page).
2. Your library gets auto-updated ("Enable tracker library auto-updating" is checked).
3. When you visit the options page some time after a library update, and filter the tracker browser to only display trackers that were added since new update, the trackers aren't selected to be blocked.
4. Your Ghostery preferences do not appear to get lost (between Opera restarts or whatever).
Does this sound right?-
1. Yes.
2. Yes.
3. I've never tried this before. I've only seen that there were some unchecked trackers I haven't blocked manually.
4. Yes. Not between restarts nor crashs (occur quite frequently actually :/) nor updates (12.12 > 12.13).
I've recently checked "Notify me of new elements" and now got a notification and everything seems right (new trackers are checked). Maybe this just happens sporadically or it always works right with the additional notification.
I'd like to examine this a bit further. Does a history page exist with all updates to the tracker library listed? I'd then uncheck "Notify me of new elements" again and look by from time to time. -

We do have this: http://www.ghostery.com/database/chan...
But, why disable library update notifications? You could keep them enabled to make checking up on new trackers easier. -
