Ghostery just auto-updated to version 5.01 and I'm seeing a ***SERIOUS*** memory leak on Firefox 22.0 (and now also on Firefox 23.0, I can confirm -- just ran the update).
I'm on Mac OS X 10.8.4.
Within minutes of opening Firefox with just a few tabs open, Firefox is using 1.6 GB of RAM and constantly growing.
I'm about 90% sure that it's Ghostery, because it's the only add-on that updated today, and the problem started immediately afterward.
(Firefox RAM usage up to 1.9 GB now, just a minute or two later.)

Hi Michael,
Thanks for using Ghostery!
Thanks for detailed information. We are looking into the CPU spike. If you would be willing to help us beta test please shoot me an email at pete(at)ghostery(dot)com. -

Also, could you give us an idea of which addons you have installed and enabled? How many tabs did you have open?

(Sorry if this gets double-posted.)
I just ran a test running Firefox with Ghostery disabled and then with Ghostery enabled. In each case I opened 10 tabs to different sites and waited, watching my RAM. With Ghostery disabled, Firefox leveled off at about 800-850 MB. With Ghostery enabled (currently), the RAM is rapidly leaking -- up to 1 GB now within a couple minutes.
So I'm quite sure now that having the new Ghostery version enabled causes the RAM leak.
I run many add-ons, which might complicate things. The ones that actively "do" anything are:
--Adblock Plus
--Beef Taco (with Ghostery cookie blocking disabled, of course)
--Cookie Monster (with cookies disabled by default -- use whitelist)
--NoScript (with scripts disabled by default -- use whitelist)
--Web of Trust
Other add-ons I use that are more "passive," but maybe worth mentioning anyway:
--Add-on Compatibility Reporter
--BetterPrivacy
--DownThemAll!
--Easy YouTube Video Downloader
--Firebug
--Form History Control
--Google Shortcuts
--Is It Compatible?
--Open In Current Tab
--Organize Status Bar
--Restartless Restart
--Test Pilot
--Web Developer
I mentioned before that the problem is a RAM leak, but it seems to also be a CPU spike -- on my quad-core MacBook Pro, Firefox is using half my CPU consistently. The Firefox RAM usage is now up to 1.8 GB (was 1 GB when I started this message some 5 minutes ago).
This problem only started this afternoon when Ghostery auto-updated to 5.01 -- and again, when I disable Ghostery, the problem goes away.
Many thanks for your fast response. -
