Currently, if all trackers are blocked, new trackers are blocked when the tracker list is updated. However, if any trackers are not blocked, new trackers are not blocked. I would like to be able to mark particular trackers as unblocked (in my case, Disqus) with all new trackers automatically being blocked.
This is basically an extension of this idea.

I would like to see this get implemented as well, i.e. the capability to whitelist trackers by rule while still allowing auto-blocking/auto-updating.
Whitelisting by domain is a very non-precise way of whitelisting certain trackers, like disqus, omniture, etc., though I am by no means suggesting to eliminate it.
For example, to whitelist disqus for a particular website while still maintaining auto-blocking/auto-updating capabilities, one must whitelist everything for that domain, which will also whitelist other trackers like google analytics.
I am proposing adding "whitelist bugs" and "whitelist cookies" checkbox columns to the blocking options. -

I couldn't tell what the status of this idea was because a similar idea was marked as being "implemented."

But what we are asking for here is technically different in that we specifically want to whitelist certain trackers, while still having new trackers auto-blocked.
Currently, there is no way to do this because if you want to automatically blacklist new trackers, you must blacklist all trackers.
If I want to selectively whitelist all disqus trackers as they are internally defined (I am assuming it is more complicated than simply whitelisting disqus.com), it is currently not possible to do this with the current interface while maintaining criteria 1 and 2 above.
So I am suggesting to modify the interface to allow this, with a little wrinkle in that instead of checkboxes, there are whitelist/blacklist radio buttons.
That is my idea.-
Hi gs, thanks for using Ghostery.
A feature similar to what you are proposing is going to be implemented in the next major release of Ghostery. In this release, trackers are split into categories with a user choice to block everything in a given category upon update. -

Hi,
I'm not talking about blacklisting, I'm talking about whitelisting.
I'd like to be able to selectively allow only a handful of trackers of services I use, while blocking everything else.
Categories would be nice and seems like a great idea.
However, I'm still suggesting a feature of selectively whitelisting one tracker, or categories of trackers (when that is implemented).
In the specific example above, I want to selectively whitelist only Disqus, while blocking everything else. This is not possible with the current interface, and it doesn't sound like this would be possible when the category feature gets implemented, unless there is a specific provision for whitelisting.
So the interface would look something like this:
Default action for new trackers:
( ) Whitelist (x) Blacklist
[...]
[x] Auto-update cookie rules [x] Auto-update bug rules
Whitelist / Blacklist Whitelist / Blacklist
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
[...]
( ) (x) ( ) (x) Google Analytics
(x) ( ) (x) ( ) Disqus
[...]
[ ] = checkbox
( ) = radio button
It would be identical to the current interface except that you have radio buttons for each tracker rule--which allows for whitelisting--and you can still auto-update the tracker rules, and set a default behavior for new trackers. -
