annoying ad

after the update, every site i go to, i get this pop ad that says skip in 30 seconds, this ad screams ghostery how do i make it stop showing up? nothing shows up sinse my other adblock addon is blocking it, the screen just darkens and it says skip in 30 seconds.

    What you're seeing is very likely caused by the presence of malware on your computer. The ads are not coming from Ghostery.

    Ad blockers can't do anything about malware/adware/spyware that's already on your system — in fact, they tend to make matters worse. You need to track down whatever's actually responsible, and eradicate it. It might be another browser extension, some program you installed, or a "drive-by download" that exploited some unpatched security vulnerability.

    Keep your systems secure! Install vendor-provided security patches promptly. We know how much you love your Windows XP, OS X 10.6 ("Snow Leopard"), and Ubuntu 10.04 LTS ("Lucid Lynx"), but they're no longer receiving security support — it's time to move on. If you have Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Reader, Adobe Shockwave, and/or Oracle Java installed, make sure you are using recent releases as recommended by published security advisories. Don't run ancient versions of Chrome or Firefox (anything older than the most recent two or three releases is just begging for trouble). Avoid using Internet Explorer (all versions). Don't rely on "antivirus" products to protect you from current threats. User accounts without "administrator" privileges are less likely to inflict serious damage.
